He promised to let them ruin one shirt a week in the name of exploration; I negotiated it down to one shirt between two children and a dog. There was a private moment when he pulled from a drawer a thin, leather-bound book. “It’s for them,” he said. “Letters. For birthdays, for heartbreaks, for the days they need to know who their people are.” He slid it across to me and the weight of it felt like a little future landing in my lap. I thought of Nora’s ledger and Roderick’s tape and Maggie’s journal — how the past had kept the inn alive — and of the strange blessing of holding our own tiny archive before the first footstep was even taken.

I suddenly started to feel nervous. "Hi Amarachi, I'm your literature teacher. My name is Miss Ada. Welcome to Crownstar highschool." I smiled at her. "So who doesn't have a seat partner? A girl raised her hands and Miss Ada asked me to seat with her. She started teaching and that was when I remembered that I didn't collect the pen my mum bought. I didn't want to ask anyone for a spare pen but then it was my first day at school and I did not want to start skipping notes. I asked the guy at my front for a spare pen but he didn't have any one. The girl beside him smiled and gave me a pen, I thanked her and started writing.

I tilted my head and held on to the trunk to support my body. After a while, he looked over his shoulder and howled at me. I blinked and slowly approached him. “What are you doing?” He stomped his feet on the ground. I gaze down on the ground and found letters. R-I-D-E. M-Y B-A-C-K My frown deepened as I try to understand the letters. I kind of know how to read. My dad often taught me about letters back when I was a kid. Though, I don't remember much.

She admired the colours each one had and how each presented itself with a unique quirk. Noticing one that seemed to have worn off more than the rest she pulled it out of the rack. Flipping it over to see its cover she smiled at the title written in bold letters the words read Greensburrow. It was a children's book about a young boy and girl who arrived at an orphanage together and became good friends. The girl, Anna was an adventurous soul who would often get herself in trouble but had Eliot, the boy always there to save her.

Casey pouted and Annabella chuckled "Are you trying to bribe me?" She sat down on the bed,their heads on her laps "Please another story,then we will sleep" Alex said "Fine,why not??" "Yeee!" Interrupted Victoria who was Keith and Martina's 10-year-old baby girl. She handed her 2-year-old baby sister into her mother's hands. "I told you not to roam around her because that would wake her up. I have household chorus to do! Who will carry her for the next 2 hours?" “I will look after her. She had been reading the heavenly book and had been engrossed into this story of Lady Melanie wholeheartedly. It was a magical book. The letters only appear when you open the pages and chant the spell for them to appear. Along with the letters over the first few pages, the scenario changed totally and instead of letters , the people started to appear inside the pages and they were just like living people.

She threw the book onto the table and grabbed the second book. This book’s cover title was faded, she was unable to figure out what it said or if it was in the script she cannot read.
