OUT OF THE ASHES

OUT OF THE ASHES

When I was younger, I had immersed myself in books and movies of heroic battles. The tales were always gorgeous in a way-heart-pumping and engaging, filled with quick moves and dancing blows. Heroes dashed between villains with ease, always golden, always immortal. Always confident and brave and beautiful. The Strike Force taught me that all those stories were full of shit. Real battle wasn't pretty. You trained to block and parry and dodge, yes, but you didn't think about it, didn't focus on long dancing combinations.

Hunting Her Hunters

Hunting Her Hunters

The beta is usually a relative of the alpha. ‘Directly below the beta is what’s called a gamma. They are the best warrior a sleuth has. The gamma stands alone. There is not a gamma sow or a gamma boar. They train the sleuth and protect them. They are who the alpha sends when they need someone hunted down or interrogated. Everyone else is just known by their names and holds no title. They follow the alpha without hesitancy or defiance.’

Hero Alpha and Dying Stepdaughter

Hero Alpha and Dying Stepdaughter

Alaric stood at the edge of the field, arms crossed. His gaze swept over every pair of fighters with cold precision. When he wasn't speaking, his entire presence radiated the kind of Alpha dominance that made everyone tense on instinct. This was Alaric. The hero of the entire werewolf world. The legendary Alpha who'd risen to godlike status in the Vampire War. Every pack revered him. Every enemy retreated at the sound of his name. But my second look landed on his arm. Alaric wore a long-sleeved training shirt. When he raised his right hand to adjust a warrior's stance, his sleeve shifted slightly, revealing a small patch of skin on the inside of his forearm.

A Knight's Promise

A Knight's Promise

He always smiled in the face of adversity, He could always see the brighter side of any situation and would never hesitate to help others when they are in need, even giving second chances to people who deserve none of it. Kent was seen as the people’s hero and even the most hardened gladly bowed their heads in service to him because he was the hope that the people had lost long ago. Though Chimera is seen as a hero by the people just like his brother despite this Chimera prefers to fight with a feathered pen than a sword. But make no mistake he is equally as powerful as him during the trials of strength Kent and Chimera must never clash as their power would easily destroy the Ark-planetoid.

The Adventures of the Red-Haired Heroine

The Adventures of the Red-Haired Heroine

I wasn’t sure if it was because of his silly face or it was my body’s post-response to all the tears that I’ve shed. “Have you ever tried wishing for a new life?” His voice became serious and he gave out a warm yet dodgy smile. “You know, Japanese and Korean comics have been too popular as of the moment because of its reincarnation or transmigration stories. Have you ever wished to experience the same thing?” Scenes from the stories that I have read flowed in my mind smoothly, it was as if someone intended that I remember it. In a slow manner, I nodded at him. “Well, I’ll lie if I say I didn’t. But I know it was just a fleeting dream.” I faced the window—silently asking to end our conversati

Warrior of the Way

Kayla held his hand until they reached the line of Warriors, and then she went and stood beside Tansy. Alex brushed his lanky bangs out of his eyes as he turned to Rose. "Ready to be a hero?" They clasped hands and started toward the barrier. As one, they held up their other arms, palms out toward the Nether, and willed their spirits into the barrier.

Assassin's Honor

Assassin's Honor

He was done being restrained. Aaron Mortem first. The broken nose had been Honor’s work, which Gabriel respected, but the words that had preceded it were his to answer for. He watched football practice from the shadow of the bleachers, arms folded, assessing. Aaron was the quarterback — decent arm, reasonable instincts, the kind of athlete who coasted on physical gifts without ever being pushed hard enough to find out if there was anything real underneath. As a wolf he was underwhelming. The supernatural DNA was there — Gabriel could smell it, diluted and uncertain, the heritage of a rogue line that had never been properly trained. He doubted the kid could fully shift. He doubted the kid had

Hopeless Warriors

Hopeless Warriors

"Yes, Lord Dashkov. Inferion prides itself on the unity between Dhampir and Moroi not only in matrimony, but in battle as well." I looked the young lord over, examining him for any signs of combat training, but one peek at his perfectly unmarred hands had me suppressing a scoff. Sensing an opening, I finally decided to speak. "Interesting, Lord Ozera. And how many of these battles would you say you've participated in?" Victor shot me a sharp look that told me to behave, no doubt sensing the disapproval in my tone, but the others didn't seem to regard it as anything other than genuine interest.

My Hero Crush

My Hero Crush

"Wow, have you ever been a superhero? Tell me!" Tell the story? I won't! The main characters of the rescue action were Kenan and his friends, so instead of upsetting Adipati by mentioning Kenan's name, I shouldn't mention it. "What a boring story, I won't tell you!" He took a deep breath, then pulled me to sit on the sofa, and embraced me tenderly.
