Novelas y relatos de Submitting

A tired sigh escaped Jas's lips. For eight continuous hours, he had been sitting behind his desk, his nose buried in files that rested comfortably in his hands. He had a lot of deals to sign. He wasn't aware of when the files were increasing. Whenever he saw that he was about to get done, another file appeared, rendering him tired.

Cole My phone rings as I sit watching the restaurant where I have a clear view of Ophelia. I look and see that it is the person running the check on the gut Ophelia is currently making eyes at. "Talk to me." "Sir Christopher James is clear. He is from a middle-class family and works in publishing. No arrests, charges, or even traffic tickets. There is nothing wrong with him. He had a few girlfriends in the past that have nothing but great things to say about the guy."

It's from Monika. *How is your little peanut doing?* She texts. This little whore did not! ... (to be continued)

I opened it again thirty seconds later and pulled up the application before I could talk myself out of it. I started typing. My hands were steady. The rest of me was not. I submitted it at 11:47 PM. Let’s hope he doesn’t keep grudges.

"I needed to see if it was still good. The original idea. I needed to know if losing it for three years had made it smaller somehow." "Has it," I said. "No," she said. Quiet and certain. "It's better actually. I understand things now that I didn't then." I looked at the proposal on her screen. Then I looked at her. "Submit it," I said. She looked at me. "I just said it's early—" "Submit it," I said again. "Not today. When it's ready. When you're satisfied with every part of it." I held her gaze. "But submit it. Don't wait for the right moment because the right moment won't announce itself. You just decide it's time."

I signed off on the submission. James filed it Friday afternoon. We sat in the conference room after and had tea in the small way of people who had completed something and were acknowledging the completion without overstating it. “The placement report,” he said. “Dr. Osei wants it complete by end of June.” “Sophia’s contribution is almost fully drafted,” I said. “Lillian’s account is complete. My analytical section needs one more revision.” “Two weeks,” he said. “Two weeks,” I confirmed. I went home on Friday evening with the specific quality of someone who had done a full week’s work and was returning to a house where the evening was waiting in the form of people they wanted to be with.

I looked at the coffee machine. "Walden," I said. "His name isn't on it," Lauren said immediately. "It wouldn't be." My voice was flat. "There's nothing connecting it to him directly." "That's the point." I turned back to her. "Who filed it?" "Anonymous submission through the board portal." She uncrossed her arms. "Which is technically allowed under the review policy, which means we can't dismiss it on procedural grounds alone." I nodded slowly. "They'll be an informal review, they want a written response within fourteen days." Lauren said, breaking the silence. "If the response is satisfactory it doesn't go further. If someone on the board decides it warrants a closer look..."

I locked the bathroom door behind me, even though I was alone in the house, then sat on the closed toilet lid for a long moment, just breathing. “You can do this,” I whispered to myself. “Just… do it.” I followed the instructions with mechanical movements, pee on the stick, wait, don’t look, don’t look. The three minutes that followed were pure torture. I paced the small bathroom, biting my nails, then sat down again, then stood up. My mind was spiralling. What if it’s positive? What if it’s negative? What if I’m sick with something else? What if Adrian doesn’t want it? What if my father finds out?

I watched Lucian's face and his face also did nothing. The lead elder said, "The burn order was suspended pending submission review, not active at time of filing, the submission stands." Dorian's jaw moved once, as he tried to keep his composure. "Furthermore," the elder continued, picking up a second document that one of the Summit staff had just placed in front of him, "a secondary submission was filed at five fifty eight, one minute after the primary, by a witness presenting formal testimony." He looked up at the room. "The witness is present."

I worked. The documentation submission had a sequencing requirement — the evidence had to reach the High Council review panel in a specific order, with each piece arriving before the next was sent, building the record in the same causal structure I had used for the council session presentation. Not dumped into the system simultaneously. Delivered in the order that made the picture legible. I managed the submission from the administrative office. Marcus sent updates through the secure field communication line. Position updates, progress markers, the specific information I needed to coordinate timing.
