Waiting. I wanted to sink myself in the corner of a dark room, cocooned in a blanked, crumpled, ignored. Eyes shut tight and doing nothing at all until time passes by and I am gone. I wish I wasn’t human. Stupid humans, wanting to survive. Even the unforgivable ones. I sighed as I looked at the computer screen with Liza’s smiling face on it. A massive single world in bold underneath. Missing.

Since Riley was doing well in school, she had no problem with taking the day off. She hadn't been sleeping well. She felt tired and paranoid when she should have felt energized and excited. The last two nights, she even felt like there was someone watching her from a distance. She would look outside , peaking from behind her blinds, but couldn't tell where they were hiding. She would toss and turn all night dreaming of nothing but an endless void. Even Ava didn't want to come out and talk. Was there something wrong with her wolf? This was not what she pictured.

Winter

Winter

There were four people waiting out front of the double-door entrance that had to be over ten feet tall. She pulled up and parked the car. Getting out first, Mrs. St James rounded the car and shook hands with two of the people who were waiting. Another one came over and opened the door for me. Stepping out, I fought the urge to crane my head back to look up. The door shutting behind me made me jump and I realized just how bad my nerves were. “Regis, this is Winter Cyprus. She is the one who is requesting to speak with the Council today.”

What a special read! A lot more wholesome than other books but the plot story & unexpected twist captivates till the end. Winter holds a special place as a MC. She perseveres and has so much control of her situation despite her circumstance - strength through adversity.

So so so so sooooo good! I LOVE your writing that’s 2 books back to back of yours that I’ve read. I know the next one I read will be just as good! The plot drew me in the cliffhangers caught me and twists held me down! I loved every minute of this story

After calling out again and again, we finally connected with someone who assured me that they were on their way. However, they said to get comfortable, because it may take 30 minutes to an hour. "Alright. You heard them," I said. "It's gonna be a while; let's just sit down." Finally, Jaxon complied. I grabbed onto his hand for balance as we sat down against the side wall near the buttons incase we got a call back. His hand felt hot and damp in mine, and I could feel the heat radiating from his body.

The man said in a pleading voice. Bonnie sighed, "You sure your wife won't mind?" "I'm sure." "Okay. I'm Bonnie, by the way." "I'm Blake. Pastor Blake." Bonnie smiled as she, Egg and Blake walked to his car. *** "Honey, I'm home!" Blake happily said as he walked into his house with Egg and Bonnie. A petite woman with blonde hair and blue eyes appeared. "Oh, hey. Uhh, who is this?" "Babe, this Bonnie and her guide dog, Egg. They'll be staying with us until Bonnie gets back on her feet. Is that okay?" Bonnie's cheeks reddened.

Frequently Asked Questions

Oh, I totally get the hunt for free reads—especially when it comes to Ha Jin's 'Waiting'. From what I've dug up, it's tricky to find the full novel legally online without paying. Some sketchy sites might have pirated PDFs, but I'd avoid those; they're unreliable and unfair to the author. Libraries are your best bet! Many offer digital loans through apps like Libby or OverDrive.

I remember checking my local library’s catalog last month and spotting 'Waiting' available as an ebook. It’s worth a shot—plus, supporting libraries feels way better than dodgy downloads. If you’re into audiobooks, Hoopla sometimes has surprises too.
