Fury twisted her perfect features as she stepped forward, her hand snapping out to grab Reid again.
I moved faster. My arm shot out, blocking her path, my fingers gripping her wrist in midair. The collision made a sharp smack echo against the concrete.
“Don’t try,” I said, my voice like steel.
Zarina’s eyes blazed, her lips curling. “Get your hands off me.” She yanked, but I didn’t let go.
“He doesn’t want to go with you,” I said coldly, my voice low but firm.
Her voice rose, “He’s my son! Not yours. Do you hear me? You have no right to him, no right to this family, no right to come back and act like you belong here!”
