The Miracle Luna
My body was locked in terror, every muscle tense, waiting for the inevitable.
But nothing came.
A strange silence hung in the air, broken only by the sound of my shallow breaths. Slowly, hesitantly, I cracked my eyes open.
The first thing I noticed was that the creature—no, the man—was no longer towering over me. Instead, he was lying on the floor, his monstrous form melted away to reveal a man with a gaunt, haunted face. His chest heaved as if he’d run for miles, his eyes wide but unseeing.
