He was afraid he might die before he could confess his feelings and give me the perfect proposal he had promised me. That was why he kept reminding himself to go to Fall University and confess to me on Richmond Road—the place where he had first met me, and it was true love at first sight. Yet ironically, the repeated reminder was the very reason that caused his memory loss. Now, three years had passed, and I had suffered so much, living with a version of Ethan whose memories were frozen at eighteen years old. No one understood better than him that eighteen-year-old Ethan had been a complete jerk, just wearing a mask of obedience.

He smiled, a feral, roguish grin that promised nothing but pain. "Little beauty," Kai rasped, his voice dripping with a cruel fondness. "The uncle missed you. I brought you a gift to remind you of home." The camera panned out. There, tied to a chair on the deck of the submarine, was a figure. Summer. The girl had clearly been drugged; her head lolled to the side, and her skin was a sickly, ashen grey. The bandages on her wrists were stained with fresh blood. As the camera zoomed in, she began to thrash weakly, her eyes wide with terror, tears and blood mingling on her cheeks.

Harper turned her head, and their foreheads touched. "I will," she said. Then she kissed him quickly, full of everything she couldn't say yet. When she pulled back, she had a fiery look in her eyes. "Stay with Summer," she said. "I'll be back soon." Malakai nodded. He watched her get out of the car with her spine straight. Then he turned to the back seat, where Summer was still clutching her medal in her sleep. He reached back and gently tucked the blanket higher around her.

He saw Jake instructing the maid what to be done inside the villa. "Where's Summer?" He curiously asked Jake in his formal tone when he didn't see her around the house. "She went out early, she said she would meet a friend." He replied. Making him felt gloomy all of a sudden. She went out early today, since it was her rest day she took the opportunity to buy something for her mom and her sister Kylie, her birthday was coming by the end of the month and she wanted to surprise her and send her gift in advance.

He raised his brow and smirked. I narrowed my eyes as I saw my cousin raise his hand to suggest something. All of the board members looked at him. “I think it’s best if we send Kinsella soon. She’s been in the Beach House summer last year and seemed to enjoy the beauty of the beach.” My jaw dropped at what my cousin said. Did he just…God! The board members all looked at me. Mr. Pines looked at me with a smile. “Then I guess, you know some people from the area, Miss Sloane.” He said in a formal tone.

He set his glass on the balcony, his hand then finding its way to the small of my back so that he could draw me in to him. His eyes shone as if the stars themselves burned within. He leaned forward and brushed his lips across mine. The sensation made my spine feel like it was made of champagne, bubbly and ready to float away. I pressed my lips against his, begging for a better taste. He opened his mouth, the effervescence of champagne permeating my senses. I smiled as I moaned softly. All I wanted was to drink his champagne kisses.

She had been single all this time, and that was supposed to be her first kiss. However, she did not want to admit it. She did not know how to respond, but Joe's eyes gleamed even more.
