Summer Solstice Memes Novels & Stories

I looked out the window at the December afternoon. The light was going early the way December light went, retreating toward the short days and long nights of the solstice, which was ten days away. The winter solstice gathering was being planned by Sarah with the thoroughness she brought to everything that mattered. This year the largest gathering yet. Not just the fortress community but connections from the network, wolves who would travel from the satellite locations and from territories nearby. Luna’s first solstice. Mira’s first proper one after four hundred years.

Something stored inside immediately wriggled, rebelling. *** "Too bad, it's still too early to see the aurora," Summer muttered as she looked up at the sky. "How about we come here again in two months, Uncle Louis? We can dance while following the movement of the lights." Hearing that, Louis smiled. He stopped adjusting his telescope, turning to the little girl. "That's a great idea, Summer. The three of us can dance. I can wear a suit, while you and your mother wear beautiful dresses. It'll be a fun star party."

By early morning, I was driving the hornet down the familiar gravel driveway to my old house. The cows were already milked and travelled in a herd as they headed out to a green place to graze in the summer sun. The days would get shorter soon, almost unnoticeable until fall. It would happen just after solstice, my birthday. That was only a few days away. The memory of the darkness taking Mila made me shudder again. I stole a glance at her. She was still humming merrily as she looked out the window.

the devil reveals. “Solstice?” I repeat, surprised. I didn't realize he actually had a date fixed for whatever he was going to do. I did the math in my head. “That's sixteen days from now.” The solstice is one of the most important holidays in the supernatural community. It was our Christmas, but it was more significant. It was the end and the beginning of a new time period. It was the day that the Goddess was the most in tune with her children. Or so the legends say.

Sol laughed at her. “Mayari also said that the son of the sun will rise in the rubble. I think we made the right conclusion to look for him in a country stricken with war. You know, wars have the worst aftermath.” Sol added. Silence filled the room. Both of them are looking for words to say, both guessing what the other might be thinking. “It’s so cool we have the same birthday, you know.” Luna said, smiling. “Yeah. If I was only born at night, maybe I was the one you are looking for.” Sol joked. Although Luna liked the idea.

She pulled me into a gentle hug, and I buried my face in her chest, inhaling her scent of roses and fresh air. “Tell me about the solstice thing,” I whispered hoarsely, my throat closing up with the emotions of the last hour. “I need a distraction from this right now,” I added. “The solstice is our new year. We celebrate life and love and new beginnings. Once a Fae turns 19, they can find their true mate between sunset and midnight on the solstice, provided they are both of age and near each other during that time.” “But why didn’t anyone tell me this?” I snapped, moving my head back to look at her and around at everyone else.

I warned him. “I’m not, my King,” he denied, utterly calm. “However, as your second-in-command, it is my duty to advise you to the best of my ability.” I wanted to curse at my smart-ass Beta. Yet deep down, I knew he was right. “As you know, the Summer Solstice celebration is just in a month,” Dylan reminded me. I refused the urge to groan. The Summer Solstice celebration was a huge event held at Phantom Pack. Alphas and Lunas from the entire country came yearly to discuss politics. But more than that, it was a show of power.

But they make sure to return every year for the celebration of the Summer solstice. Legend has it that because the summer solstice is the longest day and shortest night of the year, it is the time when evil spirits and demons are overly aggressive to attack. That is why werewolves gathered around the fire pit that night to chant away negative energies. We collect different herbs and flowers to create a protective circle around the bonfire. Some even wear necklaces made of mixed herbs and flowers. We werewolves have evolved, and many of us no longer believe in superstitious beliefs, but there’s no harm in preparing.

“Are you interested in some props for the Last Day of Summer Fest? We offer free juice and photos on the side.” “When is the day?" “Pardon?” Valentina looked over at her like she was staring at a grade two child. “When is the fest?” Colleen had no idea so she looked to Tobias for help and thankfully, he answered. “21st of this month. A few superstars like Johnny Crane, and Naomi Statham will be in attendance. I would recommend you get a summer hat for the occasion but unfortunately, we’re sold out. So, how about a tee shirt?”

It felt right. "The summer solstice," I said. "I want it to be on the summer solstice." Adrian's eyes widened. "The summer solstice? That's only a few weeks away." I nodded. "I know. But it feels right. It's a time of rebirth, of new beginnings. And that's what this is. A new beginning for us." Adrian squeezed my hand, his eyes shining with tears. "The summer solstice. It's perfect." I smiled, feeling the warmth of his love surround me. "I want to start our new life together on a day that means something. A day of hope."
