The Surgeon's Debt
The pristine, white sanctuary of my clinic was turned into a battlefield triage unit in a matter of seconds.
"Alex, what happened?" I demanded, instantly snapping into trauma-surgeon mode. The slight tremor that usually lived in my hands when I thought about my situation vanished completely.
"An ambush at the secondary warehouse," Alex gasped, his eyes wide and bloodshot as he hooked the first guard to a heart monitor. "The Ace of Spades used heavy explosives. We barely got them out."
"Clear the floor," I ordered, my voice cutting through the panic like a scalpel. "Alex, start an IV line on table one, normal saline, wide open. I need to scrub in right now."
