"We don't have a refrigerator. We can only do this to preserve food." Uri memorized everything Finn taught him; survival knowledge like this is essential. Day after day, Clement did not come, making Uri extremely impatient. But the wooden house was the rendezvous point. He did not dare to go anywhere and could only wait patiently. Fortunately, with Finn by his side, life is less tedious and feels safer. On the eighth night, a flashlight glimmered in the woods, approaching the wooden house. Finn was the first to notice footsteps in the distance, nervously pulling Uri out of the house and jumping onto a hidden tree branch.

He snickered, taking little bites from his food while staring me down. “That’s nice, I hope she doesn’t rub off her boring nature on you.” Mom joked. “Oh that can’t happen anyways.” she let out a light chuckle, looking away, I forced some food down my throat, I had long lost my appetite but didn’t want to seem rude by leaving, this was their first time here and I dinner want mom buzzing me about my attitude, she could throw me out if possible. After some moment of silence, Troy ripped his napkin and leaned back in his chair, his voice deep in gong as he spoke, I looked up at him almost immediately. “Summer you’re moving in with us.”

EVIE POV I walk ahead with the awareness of the three figures strutting behind me. The party was outside of campus, I didn’t figure that out until we left the grounds. It was heated and more crowded than any party I have ever been to, there was a DJ stand as expected, bornfire and lots of grown ups. If close attention was paid, one could hear several wolves howling in the distance. A few people approached—Kaden and the rest as soon as we arrived. I attempt to leave, getting lost in the crowd. With them loaming over me like a dark cloud, it’s a guarantee that I wouldn’t be having any time of fun right.

Adrian looked at the terrace door, Dante looked at me, and Julian looked at the monitor beside my bed. They were afraid to leave. Finally, Adrian said in a strained voice, “We’ll only be gone for a minute.” Dante told the nurse outside to stay with me, while Julian paused at the door and looked back. “Isabella,” he said quietly, “wait for me.” I gave him no answer. I get down from counter and follow him back to the living room. Soon we are sitting side by side on the sofa in front of the flat screen TV pinned to the wall. We find a Korean action comedy film called Midnight Runners on N*****x and decide to watch it. Adonis press the play button on the remote and the film begins. He then leans back comfortably on the sofa and wraps his hands around my shoulder, pulling me closer to him.

Mom said gently, "Things must've been hard for you, sweetheart." I calmed down and smiled at her. "I'm fine. It's all in the past now." Although I still had to experience everything once more, I wouldn't be scared anymore because I had my family by my side. … The neighborhood's electricity was cut on the third day after the zombie outbreak. We prioritized preserving the vegetables and meat that weren't easy to store. After curing the meat, we managed to stockpile enough food that would last us at least half a year.

Before the situation escalated further, Ben appeared, carrying a tray of bubble tea. In two swift strides, Ben was between them. He caught Summer’s arm mid-swing, his grip ironclad. With a sharp flick of his wrist, he tossed her aside like a rag doll. Turning immediately to Jamie, his expression softened into concern. “Are you okay? Did she hurt you?” Jamie shook her head, still catching her breath. Seeing Ben’s protective reaction, Summer’s heart shattered. “Ben, don’t you remember who I am? This isn’t fair!” she cried, her voice trembling with anguish.

Enough to coz them to investigate all the culprits. Am still gonna keep Summer in this world for three days. She has to face all her demons. She has to unlock all the memories that she locked at the back of her mind to escape the hurt. She has to relive her nightmares but this time I'll be with her through it all.
