Susan smiled seeing there are no maids in the living room and saw it was a perfect way to talk back at them. “Hey brats.” She calls and Leo chuckled. “Feels so weird to hear a brat call humans brat.” Leo scoffed and Lucas laughed. She fumed angrily and she was about to talk back when Mrs. Griffo walked down the stairs. “Oh, hey mum.” Susan said and faked tears. “Mum.” She cried and hugged Mrs. Griffo. “What is wrong dear? Did he call off the date again?” “No he didn't.” “Then what's wrong?”

Susie's face darkened as she assured Tina of this fact. Tina nodded her head to what Susie said. Susie giggled. "I see you won't stop smiling with those cute little lips of yours. I might as well join you". Susie concluded before she shut her eyes and was smiling, just like Tina was doing at the moment. .

"You're fighting back?! Just look at this bitch! It's just like the last time she ratted out!" "Come on, just her hand?" Susie gloated as she dropped to a crouch, grabbing my collar. "Why don't we take an early graduation photo and play it on loop during her wedding?" Everyone laughed maliciously right then, while I struggled, refusing to let them win!

I call. "Susie Mueller." My best friend is here. I sigh with relief. I clear my raspy throat and sit up straight. "Come in, Susie." The door opens. Susie is a big girl who loves wearing big dresses, and she flows into the room now wearing the most voluminous skirt I have ever seen on her. Under any other circumstances, I would have teased her immediately. She turns around in a joyful, sweeping circle, her eyes bright. She asks, "Do you like it?"

The heartwarming scene brought tears to my eyes. While everyone was enjoying the desserts, a familiar voice came from outside the door, "Hello, is Zoe Ernest here?" I looked towards the door and saw Susie standing there, carrying a suitcase. She was dressed in a white crop top paired with a light blue denim skirt, and she wore a wide-brimmed straw hat that accentuated her soft, golden curls. I hurriedly went to greet her and brought her inside the shop. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming beforehand?" I teased playfully.

Susie found her at lunch on a Monday with a very specific expression. "You're annoyingly happy," Susie said. "I'm not annoyingly happy," Lena said. "You smiled at the pasta station," Susie said. "You hate the pasta station." "The pasta was fine today," Lena said. Susie sat down across from her and looked at her face with the thorough assessment she deployed when something had shifted. "The photograph", Susie said. "Lilly showed me something," Lena said.

GRACE'S POV At Susan's scream, I burst into laughter, clutching my stomach as she nearly fell off the couch. “You’re lying! You have got to be lying!” She pleaded, eyes wide open. “I wish I was,” I said between laughs. My stomach was aching at that point. “That is insane. It's a full-blown disaster. There's no way they can do damage control, not at this point.” she said, shaking her head rapidly. “Exactly.” I concurred, still feasting on my popped kernels.

Maybe I could let go with him, let my body feel and shut my mind off. "I should have known you'd know everything about our date by now." Susie grinned wickedly. The way she said "date" had me wishing I did know. No. Nope. Don't go there. Susie dug around in an enormous handbag, finally pulling out a lipstick tube. "I just can't help myself with Ian, you know? That washboard stomach and chiseled chin. Mmm." She licked her lips, waving around the soft, pink lipstick. I attempted a laugh, the sound coming out more unusual than sincere. "I never saw him quite like that."

After all that horrible transformation, Sadie took me back down the stairs, and when Lucas saw me, he began to cough, but I knew he was actually laughing. Sadie sat me in a chair, and brought out her phone, clicking pictures, and acting lovey dovey with me. “Hey, hey, smile! Smile like the sun.” She ordered, and I bared all my teeth, making her hit my face with the phone. “Ah!” “You look horrible if you do that! Seriously, you’re so ugly. Now, smile like I’m doing.” She said, and I did. She clicked, and next she made me pout like a kid, which I also did.
