HER PERFECT RUIN, HIS PERFECT REDEMPTION

HER PERFECT RUIN, HIS PERFECT REDEMPTION

The grin on my face unconsciously widened, and I brought the book to my nose, sniffing it in. There it was, that rush of feeling a new book in your hands. But then, the hair on my nape stood erect and my body stiffened defensively. It suddenly felt like I was being watched and I swung my head over my shoulders. I couldn't make out anyone behind me. It was just as it looked when I entered. I furrowed my brows in concern, looking around inquisitively, before proceeding to the next aisle. A Bloody Affair and The Girl In The Glass were the books I picked next. I was almost skipping around the store on my toes, my veins pumping with adrenaline and an unnerving excitement that made me so restless

He obviously loved thrillers as most of the books were made up with novels by Ian Fleming, Desmond Bagley, Hammond Innes, Ian Rankin, Michael Robotham and Alistair MacLean. My mobile sounded and I moved out on to the landing. Caller ID: Kimberley. “Hello, darling,” I said into the phone. “I need a drink,” she explained. “Bad morning?” “Ever since that break-in you investigated, Bio-Preparations insist on having an audit every month,” she said breathlessly. “Why have they got to have it on a bloody Saturday?” “You poor thing,” I said soothingly, feeling partially responsible. “So how about the Waggoner’s Rest?” She persisted. “I’ve just arrived back at the quay.”

House of Horrors Part 1

House of Horrors Part 1

Each name sank deeper, sending waves of doubt and terror—waves that never ended. Susan and the blank sheet of paper— Night began to weigh heavily on the city, sweeping away a long, unsettling silence. The streets below her apartment seemed deserted, save for a few cars passing intermittently, as if fleeing some unknown fate. The building where journalist Suzanne lived wasn't much different from other modern buildings in Cairo, but this night held something unusual. Her heart pounded with questions, her head heavy with the tangle of crimes, faces, and names.

Death Of A Rivera

Most things are about detectives and all their boring stuff but something tells me to go through it because I might know a thing or two. I've opened almost all the books on the first shelf. Turns out detective books are not so bad. I also passed out my time by checking some of the murder novels on the shelve. One really caught my interest. Dying to call you by Elaine Viet. It's about a girl finding her sister's murderer and all that.

Chronicles Of One Night Stands

Chronicles Of One Night Stands

Maybe that was why this sudden, desperate thirst for the man in front of me hit so hard. “Something going on at work? You look distressed,” he said, but I barely heard the words. My attention was caught on the way his mouth moved, and I couldn’t stop wondering what else it could do. “You’re good with your fingers,” I blurted, my gaze glued to the way his large fingers circled his glass. I had no idea why I found that so attractive… maybe it was the liquor. “Wow. You’re checking me out?” His voice dropped, eyes narrowing in amusement, and I didn’t look away from those stormy gray eyes that seemed to make my body sizzle from the inside out.

But the best part in both the books and the TV show is the unresolved tension between the three protagonists. 56-58. The Smoke Trilogy BY TANYA HUFF Same author, but not as successful. A series of three books, Smoke and Shadows, Smoke and Mirrors, Smoke and Ashes. The series takes place in Vancouver with Henry Fitzroy and his sometime-lover. More occult crime. Didn't do much for me. 59. Interview With The Vampire BY ANNE RICE Clearly one of the first reluctant vamps. I personally do not like the gothic trappings of the Anne Rice world, but this is clearly a book that influenced the genre. There are many other Rice novels, The Vampire Lestat, etc.

Just need to be edited, overall I love it, it has it's originality, it's start like some crazy sitcom and ends up having this climax, my favourite character has to be Goblin, I like how you portrayed his character, he's someone who was hurt because of the werewolves and vampires issues, overall nice

A Writer's Love: You and I

A Writer's Love: You and I

"That's great heard the previous season was a huge hit. So are starting anything new. What are your plans?" "I have a new book I'm working on. I'm thinking of a thriller. I want to do like a story about a guy who stalks a girl that he is obsessed with. They become a couple because of all the stalking he knew her likes and dislikes. He then ends up killing people who he believes is a threat to ruin the perfect love story which the girl later discovers. Question would be would she be able to accept him or not." "That seems dark. It's different from what you write but I'm intrigued and would love to read the whole story."

The Bet

The Bet

She had poisoned herself and it was not only the alcohol's fault, but also the constant stress and exhaustion that had been accumulating for a long time. As she passed by the bookshelves, she decided to take some book to read. She was delighted with Matthew's collection. There were all the books written by Clive Cussler, one of her favourite writers, as well as a lot of books by Michael Crichton and Duncan Falconer. What surprised her more was to see all of John Grishams' novels.

I'm really enjoying the story of Jo and her journey, the novel is so realistic and easy to relate to. I haven't had such a good read in a while, definitely looking forward to reading more on Jo's journey.

You're talking about that sweet spot where the plot moves like a freight train but your heart's in your throat the whole time. I'm really particular about this – too much action and the suspense evaporates, it just becomes a spectacle. The ones that nail it for me are books where the action sequences create new, more terrifying problems, tightening the noose instead of providing release.

I keep going back to 'The Chain' by Adrian McKinty. The premise itself is the engine of suspense – you have to kidnap another child to save your own. Every single move the protagonist makes is fraught, and the 'action' isn't cool gunfights but desperate, morally horrifying acts under a ticking clock. The violence is sudden, ugly, and makes everything worse. It left me feeling complicit, which is a whole different kind of suspense.

For a different flavor, 'Dark Matter' by Blake Crouch throws physics-based action at you. The suspense isn't just 'will he survive?' but 'which version of his life is real, and what is he willing to obliterate to get back?' The chases across multiverses are mind-bendingly tense because the stakes are existential. The final act had me putting the book down just to breathe.
