I step back into the shadows and watch.
Seconds later, Sloane slams through the terrace doors, her face flushed, her breathing frantic. She looks like a wild animal trying to escape a trap. She scans the room, her eyes locking onto the serving table.
"Look at her," I mutter, my heart hammering a violent, ecstatic rhythm against my ribs. "Look at the thirsty little monster."
