I filled a glass with water, the clinking of ice against glass a jarring sound in the silence.
"You will meet Laxus tomorrow," Tyler finally said, his voice low and hesitant. I nodded, my face impassive, my heart pounding in my chest.
"So?" I asked, my voice carefully neutral, a mask hiding the turmoil churning within.
"Just a reminder, Tyra," he replied, his gaze fixed on me, his expression unreadable. I washed the glass, the water swirling down the drain, a futile attempt to wash away the anxiety that had taken root in my soul.
