Chapter 13: Whispers Behind Glass Walls The silence in the office was the worst kind the kind that felt too aware, too orchestrated. Lana’s heels clicked sharply on the marble tiles as she walked into the tenth-floor workspace of Silken Group. Heads didn’t turn, but she could feel the weight of every pair of eyes. Watching. Whispering. She adjusted the strap of her bag on her shoulder and held her chin high. A receptionist gave her a strained smile. “Good morning, Miss Valen.”

Hazel whispered, her voice sounding thin to her own ears. As she stepped out of the car, she realized Silas had followed her out. Lines of data cascaded across the screen — columns of numbers, aliases, false accounts. Zach stood behind me, watching. “You know what you’re looking for?” “Patterns,” I said. “Repeated entries. Shared routing sequences. Anything that links to Vittore’s dormant network.” He nodded once, keeping his voice low. “We have eight minutes.” I scrolled faster. Every second, more data revealed itself — financial trails masked beneath layers of encryption. The Ghost’s web was vast, but not flawless. There were inconsistencies. Signatures that didn’t match. Then I saw it.
