Tessa blinked, the fire in her fading just slightly.
“I wanted justice,” she said, voice barely above a whisper.
He tilted his head. “Justice is subjective. Tamlin would rot in a cell for five years and still believe he did nothing wrong. But if I break him into nothing, if he begs for scraps and no one answers... that’s pain. That’s what he gave you, wasn’t it?”
Her lips parted, but no words came.
