"We thought we were going to die." Tasha grabbed onto my arm, her grip tight. "It was horrible," she choked out. I squeezed her shoulder gently. "I won't let that happen," I replied, my voice firm. Just then, the door barged open, and two rogues pounced at me. I fought back with all my strength. I was determined to protect Lovette and Tasha at all costs. The rogues were strong, but I was stronger. With a powerful blow, I took down one of them, and the other fled in terror.

When I do, I can see that there are two coming our way. I look at Drake and hold up two fingers, pointing in the direction that the two are coming. He and I take off in the opposite direction. When we’re far enough away, I stop, turning to check behind us. “They must have some sort of alarm when someone passes through the barrier,” I say quietly. We double back toward the scent of magic and find an old castle. Drake’s creepy castle has nothing on this one. It has vines growing up the walls, and huge turrets with gargoyles on the top. It’s dark and dank looking, with torches burning in the front.

I shouted worriedly when he was out of view. “I’m okay, Katrina! I found the castle turret Tie mentioned. It’s a freestanding tower!” August called out. I furrowed my brow as we stepped through the brush to see a large pond in a clearing with a six-story high stone tower next to it. It looked like what is often described as Rapunzel’s tower, right down to only one window at the very top. I’ve read and watched enough fairytales to be weary of this tower. “How do we get in? Is someone going to throw her hair down for us to climb?” Tiberius joked as he tilted his head back to look up at the lonely window. “I’m not really in a condition to go climbing. Plus, how would you get in, August?”

Mac The wind howled like a pack of ghosts behind us as we sprinted up the side path toward the castle. We reached the stone archway just as the first wave of debris began assaulting the castle—dirt and rocks from the outer edge of the circulation. Tara turned one more time, facing the tornado. She closed her eyes, pushing her arms outward and then to one side. When she turned back, her eyes glowed with that ethereal light again, and the look of determination on her face—a beautiful, formidable sight.

I led the men to a distinctive grouping of rocks behind and below the castle. The sky was lightening, already purple instead of black, so I could clearly see the castle looming above us. The path to the castle's entrance wound gently up a gradual slope but there, at the castle's back, the rock face was a sheer drop. Looking up at the soaring towers was dizzying so I focused instead on finding the large boulder that completely camouflaged the entrance. I eased around it to find an open tunnel; there wasn't even a door barring the way

Torus was not there yet. The scenery changed to show us Torus entering the Castle gates. Believe it or not, it was made of steel. I couldn't tell how it didn't have any rust or anything. The magic at his castle had to be powerful to maintain such a castle. My interest piqued at the thought of seeing how the other Kingdoms were. I thought that the Kingdoms would be in grasses and whatnot. However, this was not the case. It was beyond my expectations.

I continued forward, and soon I was at the gate of the bar, when I saw it. A shadow loomed in the dark. Tall. Muscular. Powerful. He wore a white polo that clung to his sculpted torso, and even from a distance, I could see the faint curl of his lips. I wasn’t moved by his size or strength, not until he finally spoke. Just then I knew something changed. "What's a pretty damsel doing out here alone at this unholy hour?"
