We’d finished eating by then and moved to the couch in the living room with some fruit juice.
I stared at her, dumbfounded, my mouth slightly open. “What happened to my innocent Tara, the one who couldn’t hurt a fly?” I asked, setting my drink on the table with a smile.
“Sometimes the world makes you do things,” she sighs softly.
“Hmm. I didn’t know you had your husband doing all your dirty work.”
“Of course! That’s why I married him,” she teased. “Love is just the cover, so people don’t think I only wanted his body and skills. I saw he was tall and buff and thought, what a perfect candidate for the job!”
