Esmeray held her forearm up, examining the intricate tattoo that adorned her skin. The tattoo depicted a majestic wolf, its eyes fierce and determined, surrounded by swirling patterns that seemed to dance with a life of their own. I hold out my left arm to Tank. “ I want you to start at my wrist and work your way up. The way Merigold designed it is going to wrap around my wrist like a gauntlet.” Tank places the paper on my arm and wraps it around. He moves my arm back, forth and up to look at it from all sides.

All of them had a silver hue, yet it was clear that they were not crafted from actual silver. One had a small ruby, another had elegant cursive inscriptions, and another had delicate floral etchings. I couldn't help but admire the intricate artwork that adorned his arm, from his fingers all the way up to his wrist. "What is the significance of this?" I gently ran my fingers over one of the intricate tattoos on his arm. The elegant script, adorned with delicate vines, roses, and lotus flowers, intrigued me, even though I couldn't decipher the Greek letters.

His outfit was completed with sneakers that matched the colour of his jeans. I could see the ink that covered his right arm. It was from his wrist leading up to the length of his arm and disappearing under the sleeve of his shirt. I could make out some of the images. I saw a rose with a name scribbled on the stem, Jesus Christ with his hands clasped, and some teardrops flowing from his eyes. I never thought about tattoos being sexy, but looking at his, I got an uneasy feeling in my stomach.

I crumpled onto the leather couch and gave myself a moment to take in Talon’s imposing form. His arms and hands were covered with intricate tattoos, each one telling its own story. Another design snaked up the side of his neck. A dark gray V-neck shirt stretched taut across his broad shoulders. The Warriors patch on the back of his vest gleamed white in the dim lamplight.

The tattoo. It had been there for years, initially just a faint black swirl of ink on the back of his hand. But now, as he moved, I noticed it had grown larger, the lines sharper. Almost as if he styled it that way. The delicate tattoos that wrap around his wrist then spread down the backside of his hands. This is only the second time I've really noticed them. I grabbed his wrist and his purr stopped. I twisted his hand so I could see the back side of it. My eyes raked over the delicate tattoo. It was almost as if he was wearing a bracelet, it wrapped around his whole wrist. It was gorgeous and beautiful. Not manly, the lines weren't thick, no extravagant filled in areas. Just thin light swirls and lines around his wrist then down the top of his hand and onto the first knuckle of each finger.

I was so speechless, I just jumped on him and he winced, the tattoo was still hurting a bit. My fingers traced another ink one on his shoulder, he got this one after his dad died, in memory of him. "Do you always do this when I'm asleep" Bryne's husky voice jolts me back and I quickly remove my hand from his chest. He frowns and sits up, resting his back on the headboard. He yawns and stretches. I gulp, watching his thick muscle extends and flexes. "Come here" I nod and crawl to his arms obediently. He draws circles on my back and hums an inaudible tune.

Each man wore the mark. Different symbols etched into skin: a serpent coiled around a sword on the left forearm of one, twin wolves snarling beneath a bleeding moon on the wrist of another, a skeletal crown on the palm of a third, and a phoenix swallowing its own tail just above the elbow of the last. Each tattoo pulsed faintly, dark and ancient, remnants of an allegiance born of secrecy, ambition, and old blood.
