Chapter 42 Raven’s POV The goddamn engine died with a pathetic cough somewhere north in the middle of nowhere, right as the first fat flakes of snow started whipping across the blacktop. The tour bus: our rolling black beast with its tinted windows and custom neon underglow, lurched once, twice, then rolled to a silent stop on the shoulder. The forsaken hazard lights blinked uselessly into the storm. No bars. No tow truck for at least twelve hours, the automated voice had said before the signal dropped completely.

It will be embarrassing. I have three new ideas for our next entrepreneurial venture, but they will need to wait until after the baby arrives. That gives me lots of time to brainstorm. I’m blessed to work with my best friend. Peyton refers to me as the talent of our operation. Tomorrow, we will see the customized tour bus Carson and I will live on during the tour. The rest of the band will share another bus. Carson thought I deserved more privacy and a space of my own during our pregnancy. I think he wanted our own bedroom without three sets of ears listening nearby. Our own bus brings many advantages.

Because of the size of the band, there were actually two buses for them and another couple for the musicians, backup dancers, and production crew. Plus the trucks with all the stage gear. It was a convoy that would travel around Australia for the next few months before Atticus took their show

“I won’t call you sweet ever again, but am I allowed to think it?” The easy banter continued and they were both laughing when they returned to the tour bus fifteen minutes later, their clasped hands swinging between them. “Tess!” someone called. She looked away from David at the sound of her name being called. The tour operator was standing near the open door of the bus. She waved at Tess to come over. A tall man in a business suit stood beside her, dwarfing her with his huge frame. The growing darkness made it difficult to discern his features and Tess could not at first identify him. However, when he moved, she had a moment of blindingly sure recognition.

The band was divided between two tour busses, these ones slick and expensive looking inside and out, a sleek, glossy modern black with Two-Way Street emblazoned in yellow script on the outside. The band stopped and gawked as they got out of the taxis. Roadies wearing black tshirts with Two Way Street in the signature spray-paint looking script on their backs and chests moved busily between the two sleek busses and the less glamourous support vehicles that would accommodate the tour’s support staff and equipment.

"So, first things first, did you read the SFO email?" "Yeah." At the break of dawn, Kaleb sent an email to all of us. I barely skimmed through its contents, but somehow, I have managed to memorize every word of that ‘memorandum’. The document outlined the non-negotiable rules for our tour in SFO: Only Perth Kitsuwon, Lennox Burke, Davin Parker, and Kaleb Obrien are allowed to drive the tour bus since Samson Perry & Seth Parker failed the driver's test. Kaleb has taken the wheel for the past hour.

I replied with a smirk. Of course, just try not to ruin the tour for the rest of us, please." He sighed. Disappointment settled in my chest as I had expected more of a fight from him, but I apparently wasn't worth the effort. Eventually, the tour came to an end. The bus was parked next to a bar with a neon light signboard "The Tavern". "Thanks for coming, everyone. I hope you all had a good time." The tour guide smiled, giving a graceful bow.

Star shot back with a smirk. “You wouldn’t dare,” Tamara said, striking a dramatic pose with Andre, who was trying (and failing) to keep a straight face. Taylor shook his head, chuckling. “Alright, everyone, look here. Big smiles. This is the one we’re framing.” The group crowded together, laughing and jostling for space, as Taylor snapped several photos. Melody captured a few candid shots, muttering about how grown up they all looked. As they finished, the low rumble of the party bus pulling up to the curb drew everyone’s attention. The sleek black vehicle, complete with flashing neon lights inside, seemed to vibrate with the bass of the music already playing.

They didn't say anything more and went exactly to the bus station their mommy took them to before. The bus arrived and they entered. Tessa and Taylor had to cover their faces because of the attention their faces got. Well, except Tyler who wasn't feeling uncomfortable even though they were still staring at him. Tessa didn't understand what really changed today, that everyone was acting really weird. She just wished that the bus would arrive at the Cassano company quickly, which happens to be their mommy's working place.
