He blurred into view, fangs glinting, eyes an electric red. His hands closed around the mercenary’s helm, twisting with a sickening crunch. The mercenary’s body dropped before I could even gasp, his shadows already curling around my shoulders, pulling me against his chest. His mouth brushed my ear, cold and razor sharp. “They don’t touch you,” he hissed, his hunger humming through the bond like a vow.
My knees buckled, half from the choke, half from the way his voice slithered into my skin. I shoved off of him, breath ragged. Claimed again. Guarded again.
