Every corner of the temple was adorned with precious stones, each sparkling with its own unique brilliance. Rubies glowed like smoldering embers, sapphires gleamed like the depths of an endless ocean, and emeralds emitted a verdant glow that invigorated my senses. It was just for show. She radiated the beauty of a goddess, and that goddess was mine.

His fingers were tracing over the gems, as he spun it on my wrist when it hit me, “It’s like he knew…”

“Don’t mourn for them, my love. They wouldn’t have shown you any mercy.” A sigh escaped her lips, a whisper of resignation. “Yes, yes, I know. But still…” I silenced her with a kiss, tasting the salt of her tears, the exhaustion on her lips. “Come, I see the bloodstone.” The moonlight illuminated the place where the bloodstone lay on top of a jagged rock formation that looked like a sacred altar. The bloodstone was nothing more than a piece of dark green crystal with red splashes that mimicked blood spatter on it. It didn’t look like much, but some say it had magical powers.

It was like a voice whispering at the edge of her mind, promising ruin. Yoona raised her hands, whispering an incantation in a language so old it vibrated through the air like thunder beneath the skin. The runes flared and then dimmed, the wall dissolving into mist. The three of them stepped through. The chamber was vast and suffocating, lit by a dozen black candles whose flames burned blue instead of gold. At the center of the room, on a pedestal carved from obsidian, lay the Bloodstone , a jagged crystal, glowing with a sinister, pulsing red. Beside it, resting on black velvet, gleamed a silver dagger etched with runes that seemed to crawl when stared at too long.

I I reach out with both hands, but before I can touch it, Finn’s hand stops mine. “Are you sure you want to do that?” I nod my head. He moves his hand away, and I pick up the Bloodstone. It warms in my hands. Like I noticed last time, it is not as warm as before, and the swirling souls inside are moving slowly. You have to watch carefully to see them shift and swirl.
