The gem started turning red, like fire was burning in it, but it didn't feel like that against her palm that was pressed against it. Infact, it didn't even feel hot at all, yet the gem started cracking from the heat, white smoke emerging slowly from the gem. Just as sudden as that had happened, the fire died, the cracks sealed right back together and the gem became an electrifying shade of blue once again, with the specks of white and red falling in it like snow.

His fingers were tracing over the gems, as he spun it on my wrist when it hit me, “It’s like he knew…”

“Don’t mourn for them, my love. They wouldn’t have shown you any mercy.” A sigh escaped her lips, a whisper of resignation. “Yes, yes, I know. But still…” I silenced her with a kiss, tasting the salt of her tears, the exhaustion on her lips. “Come, I see the bloodstone.” The moonlight illuminated the place where the bloodstone lay on top of a jagged rock formation that looked like a sacred altar. The bloodstone was nothing more than a piece of dark green crystal with red splashes that mimicked blood spatter on it. It didn’t look like much, but some say it had magical powers.

It was like a voice whispering at the edge of her mind, promising ruin.
