Winthrop—the new substitute teacher. It was all jokes and banter from there on. ♧♧♧ A couple of hours later, the sun had shifted higher, heat pressing down heavier on our shoulders. We had decided to play some beach volleyball. We split into two teams—boys versus girls, with Declan being dramatically claimed by the girls because, according to Ellie, he had “traitor energy.” Whatever the hell the meant. The game was messy and fun and dramatic—you know, obviously, because the girls were involved.

I would have been able to hear the conversation, even if Tessa didn’t speak loudly, but it was almost like she purposely wanted both Emily and me to hear her. Emily had turned in their direction too and was watching them. Brian soon turned and walked back toward the cafeteria, and Tessa turned to Ruby. “It’s just one game,” Tessa said to her, shrugging. “I don’t trust him, Tessa,” she said, quickly standing to her feet. “Lunch was horrible. Why are you doing this to yourself?” “He’s going to be playing in the game. It’s not like he can do any damage there,” Tessa said shrugging.

I was meant to watch. When I came back into the room with drinks, everyone shifted a little, like they were pretending nothing happened. I passed the bottles around. The game started again, and everyone focused on the screen. Sort of. I brought two drinks for each of them, but Tee was already finishing her third. She was moving fast. I leaned in close to her ear. "Are we doing this?" She turned her head slightly, gave me one quick nod. That was all I needed. I leaned back and let her drink.

Stanley negotiated with him while he clenced his teeth hard, his hand twitching in discomfort. The guy look at him with doubt for a moment and thought deep. After a while, he gritted his teeth helplessly and said in a heavy tone. “Fine. Don’t you dare play tricks with me!” After that blood-curling scream. Stanley was then untied from the chair as he heard the familiar beep next to his ear. He turned his head to the side and saw the screen display a series of words. He has the nerve to look sheepish, knowing he's just broken my sports-loving heart. "But it's the Cowboys, Caleb," I plead. "The Cowboys never come to Houston." "I know, and if there was any other way to make this work, I would do it." Crossing my arms over my chest, I think of a plan. There's got to be a way to shuffle things around so everyone can get what they need. I clear my throat. "Really, I don't need video of the entire game. We can get that from the feeds anyway." "Tiff…" Caleb knows I'm not going to let this go without a fight.

He asked Charlie, “Mr. Wade, what do you plan to play tonight?” Charlie thought about it and said casually, “Let’s play Texas Poker. That’s the fastest.” Andre laughed and replied cheerfully, “Okay! Let’s play Texas Poker.” After that, he ordered the dealer in the center, “Deal the cards!” Before the game began, Gopher said to Charlie and Andre, “Boss, Mr. Wade, you two enjoy yourselves. I’ll go out first. Feel free to give me any instructions at any time.”

She asked, watching the bottle spin around in the large circle they created. "Extremes." The boy replied, proceeding to explain that it was all about you doing something you've never done before when the bottle points on you. It was like a 'never have I ever' game only that you get to do what you've never done that day. Sounds like fun. Past minutes into the game and there were people who drank, smoked a pot of shisha, stripped, made out in the pool, had to rock someone and finally, it pointed at her.

But Mark had flown out of the class the moment the bell rang so it’s just me and Bethel now. “Guess what, Bethel?” I squealed as we were both stuffing our things into our locker. We share a seat. “What’s that??” Her full attention was still on what she was doing. “I finally played the game.” That statement made her shut her locker and whirled towards me at a go. “What game are you talking about??” She feigned ignorance.
