My words explode in a torrent of desperation, "Then who if not you, huh?!" I screamed, my voice cracking with fear and frustration. The memories of the attempts on my life flash before my eyes, and I'm consumed by the terror that grips me every waking moment. "I've almost lost my life twice! I'm scared to go to the mini market, take a walk in the park, even going to work terrifies me! I'm scared every day! I'm scared, Baekhoon! I'm scared to leave the house!"

I felt a cold shiver sweep through me, and goosebumps pricked my skin, a familiar sensation reminiscent of the unsettling feeling I got before summoning a storm.

I was so scared that I felt like I might wet myself. As I lay on the ground, my mind raced with thoughts of escape and survival, The chilling question that had been uttered moments ago still hung in the air, sending shivers down my spine. I’m scared of once again seeing my family, my members being brutally killed while saving me, I’m scared of losing you all, I’m scared of again losing the reason to live.” I pulled my head from his chest and looked up at him. “I’m scared of once again experiencing life alone,” I whispered and took a pause diving deep into his eyes, so deep that I won’t ever have to come out.

I assured myself before twisting the situation. I looked up to gaze into her scared eyes.

Tess I find many things in this world scary: walking to the bathroom late at night when you don’t have a nightlight on, fake friends, the members of the Safir pack, and last, and probably my biggest fear, is the thought of spending eternity alone.
