He just picked up his phone and opened a contact and looked at it for a moment before he pressed a call. I knew I should leave…..this was not my conversation. This is an Alpha calling another Alpha in the political language of a world I have been inside for exactly one day. I knew I should go back to my room and let him handle the thing he has been handling since he was nineteen years old.But…….I did not leave. And He did not tell me to. He raised the phone to his ear and the call connected on the first ring. I watched his face when it did the first ring, it was immediate, no waiting. Cole's jaw tightened by one degree. Just one.

But when I felt eyes on me, I forced a laugh and even whooped with the rest of the room. “Our daughter, Mira,” Alpha Logan continued. “has been chosen as the mate of Alpha Xaden.” A round of applause rippled through the crowd. Mira herself smiled triumphantly. My stomach twisted at the sheer glee in her expression. As the Handmaid, I had no business caring about matters like that but I couldn't help but pity this Alpha Xaden. Of all the people he chose to spend the rest of his life with, it was Mira. I made a silent prayer for him and watched with the rest of the crowd.

I can hear my own heart beating madly. "I AM SORRY. I HAVE REGAIN MY MEMORIES AND I AM HERE TO MAKE EVERYTHING RIGHT. REJECT ME, UNO." I announced. A creased on his forehead appeared. I turn at the side where the son of satan is sitting. "Alpha King. You told me earlier that I can have my choice and this is my choice. I am choosing Kyro Hale. I would like you to consider my decision.", He stood up then looked at the crowd.

I screamed when his truck screeched to a stop: “Look girl,” He stopped the car, his tone hard and harsh. Then he turned to face me as he held up my chin to look him in the eye. “You don't have a choice here.” He pointed out. “And stop acting so weak. This will be a lifetime opportunity for us if the Alphas choose you.” He said and I resisted the urge to cry even while crying. He would never choose me. And did he say Alpha? “Alphas?” “Don't interrupt me when I speak.” he snapped at me and I swallowed. I felt like there was something that he was not telling me.

All eyes snap to me, and suddenly the hall feels impossibly huge and I feel very small as every gaze is waiting for my decision. But it’s not just a choice between names. I take a deep breath and start walking toward them, my heart hammering in my ears. Every step draws whispers from the crowd, faces turned toward me as they wait. When I reach Lucius, I stop. The Alpha leaned forward slightly, his golden eyes glowing brighter. “The moon does not choose the willing, child. It chooses the worthy.”
