I stood up and examined her lifeless body on the wooden floor and a smile creeped into my lips before I walked out of the small wooden house. After sitting in the car, I first took off my hand gloves then placed my gun into my duffle bag then brought out the bloody knife and stared at it. The blood stain on this knife made a smile creep into my lips once again as I remembered how I so easily stabbed her. I looked into my bag and took out a piece of white cloth which had a few dried out blood stains from my previous victims and wiped the boys off it before it could dry. After I finished cleaning it, I placed it into my bag, zipped it up and placed it at the back of the driver's seat.

Sparks sprayed from the blades and a high-pitched metallic sound reverberated in the hall as our blades crossed each other. “So, it was you who was watching these two brothers,” the assassin said as we pushed our blades on each other, “Then, I guess I shall leave for now. I must report this,” the assassin said sliding his dagger from my blade and immediately took quick back steps and ran so quick that he almost looks like he vanished out of the thin air. I was about to go after him when someone suddenly held my shoulder. “Wait.” I stiffed upon hearing his words. No, no, brother please let me go!

It was fast, darting through the confusion like a ghost. Instinct kicked in. I launched myself forward, dragging Nora behind me. The blade bit into flesh-not hers. Pain exploded through my chest. I heard her scream, her voice ripping through the night as I fell to my knees. Warm blood spread under my hand, soaking my skin. The scent of silver and iron filled my lungs. “Nora—” I choked, my vision blurring. The hood fell away from the assassin's face, showing one of the younger warriors, eyes empty, his veins blackened with poison. Controlled. Marked. Someone had sent him.

Then, gritting his teeth and swinging his arm to knock his assailant back, he shot through his ribs. But before he could recover, another person emerged from the darkness. A blade flashed towards his face. Nicholas barely dodged, the sharp edge close enough to graze his cheek. He fired a shot, but Adrian's men, his attackers, were already on the move and they were swift and threatening. Grabbing his wrist, one of them roughly twisted it. His gun fell out of his hand and clattered against the concrete that had been soaked by the rain.

"Look at your hair clips!" Above them, the vent grate silently unscrewed. A figure dropped down. It was hard to see. It looked like a shimmer in the air, a Predator-style distortion. It landed soundlessly behind Olivia. The Faceless assassin raised a blade. It was made of glass—invisible, sharp enough to cut molecules. Jack burst through the door. "LIV! DOWN!" Olivia dropped. The assassin swiped. The blade cut a lock of her hair. Jack lunged, but he was too far away. The assassin raised the blade for a killing thrust.

The familiar weight settled into his grip like an old companion. For a moment he stood perfectly still, letting the quiet settle around him. Then he began. The blade moved through the air in slow, controlled arcs. Steel cut through the morning mist. Again. Again. Again. Each motion was deliberate. Measured. His breathing fell naturally into rhythm with the movement of the sword. Training had always been the only place where Adrian’s mind truly quieted. The past faded. The memories of the borderlands, the hunts, the bloodshed—they all blurred into the background.

"Your throwing technique wastes half of your power mists. You’d have killed me if you just shut your eyes and prayed." The assassins stiffened. "Again!" the leader shouted. They attacked again while moving in perfect coordination. My vision blurred as they circled around me with silent steps. Their blades flashed with black flame and sliced through the air with sharp hisses. I raised a hand lazily and the moment I did, wet vines burst out of the ground. They twisted upward as serpents and their leaves shimmered with dew that kept gleaming faintly under the moonlight. The first blade struck a vine, and the sword broke into pieces.

The low attack came first, a curved blade slicing towards my leg. I jumped. At the same moment the second assassin lunged for my chest. Still midair, I grabbed the attacker's arm and used his own momentum against him. The assassin's body flew forward, ramming directly into his partner. The two collided violently. Before they could get up, I landed between them, claws erupting from my fingertips. I smirked to their faces as their eyes widened behind the masks. “Too late to back out now.” I swiped. Three deep gashes tore across their throat.
