BOOK 1: THE AWAKENING ~LILY'S POV~ Smash! The glass box slipped from my hand and crashed onto the floor with a sharp sound. I stepped into Tyler's room with my heart racing like a wild stallion. And there, right in front of me, my worst nightmare came true. The Alpha's son, Tyler—the guy who had been my crush for as long as I could remember, the one who had held my hand and promised me an eternity as his only—was holding Audrey in a romantic embrace, making out with her on his sofa.

“The same thing your bloodline feared for centuries.” George’s patience snapped. He lunged. The woman vanished before he could touch her. A burst of blue smoke exploded through the chamber, forcing everyone backward. Julia coughed sharply as Thomas buried his face against her side. Then the woman reappeared near the far wall calmly. “Violence again,” she sighed softly. “Alphas truly never evolve.” George looked ready to kill her. “What do you want from us?” This time— Her answer came immediately. “The awakening.” Silence.

--- The Awakening I woke up in Derek's hands, shaking. "Diva—wake up—" I gasped, eyes flying open. "Derek." His arms wrapped around me, his voice shaking. "You were out for hours." Jax sat beside us, eyes wide. "Your eyes…" Derek's expression hardened. "What about them?" Jax swallowed. "They're glowing." I blinked. Derek brushed a lock of hair from my face, his face wide-eyed. "Diva… you're different." And I had felt it too.

“Only if you do not need me to help,” Martha chuckled and softly slipped her arm into mine, so we were walking, not as guard and prisoner but as companions. “Only if you tell me all about it,” causing me to giggle as the huge double doors opened and the wall of steam greeted us. Once she had attended to two other girls she helped to wash my long blonde hair with a water jug. “Martha, what is the Awakening?” She sighed, “you’re obviously a bit older than most but you’ve been sheltered. It is the period when you first meet and eventually are accepted by a wolf spirit. Normally happens when you’re a teenager.”

"Who the fuck are you," I ask. My frustration levels are at an all-time high, and interaction with anyone is the last thing I need right now. The woman turns to face me, I give her an inquiring look, but she mumbles something under her breath. "Sorry?" "Hi, I'm Natalie, nice to meet you. Max told me you were awake, what he failed to mention, however, was that you were awake with an attitude" The mention of Max makes me seethe.

Mia gasped, struggling against the hold, but the woman's grip was surprisingly too strong for her age. "I am awakening what has been suppressed," the woman replied, her voice now deeper and more commanding than before. "Preparing you for what is to come. For the choice you must make." "If you don't want to live, then you can die too." To my surprise, that one strike had not only killed Tyler but also awakened Evelyn. But Edith had already stopped listening to Evelyn's words. She stared blankly ahead, like her soul had left her body. I followed her gaze. It was where Tyler had fallen. I sighed and left the hospital.
