“Does he hate me now?” I asked Beta Kent without looking at him. I kept staring at the door through which Delvin went.
“Do you blame him? You are his mate yet you rejected him,” Beta Kent said.
“I didn't reject him. I only told him to stay away,” I said defensively.
“Same thing. Verbally or in action, rejection is rejection,” Beta Kent said.
“So he hates me,” I said sadly.
“I told him to let you guys just go ahead and reject each other. That way, he is free to make a choice, and you will be free to pursue your ambition,” Beta Kent said, and I immediately turned to him.
