This was war in its purest form, mother against daughter, past against future.
She reached the inner chamber, the air thick with incense and tension. Cameras swivelled, but her presence was a ghost, unseen, untouchable. The center of the room held Ash’s throne or what had replaced it: a blackened dais, surrounded by flames dancing in iron braziers.
Then, a voice cut through the silence. Soft. Clear. Poisonous.
“I knew you would come.”
Ash stepped forward, molten eyes gleaming in the firelight. Her gown shimmered, caught between silk and shadow. The dagger at her side gleamed, a twin to the ones Bianca wielded.
