Underneath The Moonlight
The rogue shifts, following my scent, but the terrain slows it.
I move like water, flowing around obstacles, slipping into shadows. My heart pounds, but my body moves with precision.
Finally, I reach a small clearing behind the building. I pause, catching my breath. Sunlight filters through the trees, and for a moment, I allow myself to feel relief.
But it is short-lived. My instincts tell me there are more—others may have been watching. I cannot stay here. I cannot return home yet.
I sink to my knees, pressing my hands to the dirt, feeling the pulse of the earth beneath me. The voice murmurs again, softer this time, almost approving:
