By the next afternoon, the quiet tension is practically humming in my ears. Lounging on the far end of the couch, I have my legs stretched out and resting over the armrest. I’m wearing comfortable grey sweatpants that leave absolutely zero doubt about the current, frustrated state of my anatomy. A paperback sci-fi novel rests open on my chest. It’s a space opera about rogue smugglers, supposedly heavy on the action. Turns out, it’s even heavier on the smut. Scanning a particularly graphic paragraph on page two-hundred-and-four, a wicked idea forms in my mind.

She looked pampered and polished and expensive, like a trophy on display. "There's a book on the nightstand," Lena said quietly as the others began packing up their supplies. "The boss thought you might want something to read while you wait." I walked back to the bedroom on legs that felt like they belonged to someone else. The book was waiting for me on the nightstand, a novel I had never heard of with a cover that showed a woman standing at the edge of a cliff, looking out at a stormy sea. I picked it up and settled into the chair by the window, the silk of my dress rustling against the upholstery.

Strangely it did, and the only thing I had in mind was to actually find out what F.S had to do in all of this. I took a deep breath before opening the first page of the book In my grip. It is a romance story about a girl who can teleport from one place to another and a boy who was from another parallel universe.
