The room fell into a quiet rhythm the clicking of keys, the occasional slurp from Edward's beer. It started like a routine scan. Then his typing slowed. His brow furrowed. Edward leaned closer to the screen. I drummed my fingers on the desk. "What?" Edward squinted, scrolling quickly. Then he let out a low whistle. "Oh, I take it back. This guy's interesting as hell."

A book came out along with his hand, both fully intact. “The Courage to Trust,” by Dr. Franklin Reed. He had to be joking. There were hidden cameras here somewhere, I just knew it. No fucking way was the god of wolves cracking open a self-help book from the mortal realm. Sure enough, he fanned through the book eagerly, skipping over several chapters in the process. The woven bookmark has a faded blue tassel and was made of woven threads depicting wolves running in a forest, at the bottom of the bookmark was an old wolf’s tooth with a hole drilled through to be able to tie it onto the bookmark. She puts it to one side to look at the page it had been marking. It looked much like many of the others she had seen flipping through. But its words had her feeling like her world was slipping through her fingers and she was unable to do anything to stop it.
