The city felt different now, quieter in the dark hours of the night, like it was holding its breath, waiting for something. Maybe it was just me, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that we had crossed some invisible line. Once you step into the world of power, violence, and corruption like we had, there was no going back. The road ahead was unclear, and with every step we took, the stakes grew higher. We made our way through the narrow alley, shadows creeping around us like old enemies. Carter kept close, his hand never leaving mine. His grip was strong, but I could feel the tension beneath it, the unspoken fear that we were dangerously close to losing control.

Damn these chains. “Fuck you, Zeus! Do you hear me? and fuck these mother fucking chains!” I didn’t have to try hard. Once I took the chains in my hands they snapped. Almost like they couldn’t take anymore, they broke, and fell to the sides of my soulless body. Like Drake, my body disintegrated into dust and drifted away with the air. “Well… that image will remain in my head forever more. Damn!”

Seren nods. “Let her.” “And you?” the god asks. She breathes deep. And answers without hesitation. “I choose to be remembered wrong, if it means staying true.” Silence. And then, The Chain breaks. The open link crumbles first, turning to ash. Then the others. One by one. Not shattered. Freed. No screams. No curses. Just… release. The altar dims. The molten runes go dark. The god speaks once more. And this time,

Whether it was yesterday's smiles or tomorrow's hopeful beams―everything shattered because of fate. Clear, blue eyes lit and reflected my messed up face as a low, magnetic voice penetrated my ears. "Do you understand now, Claire? Even if you object, even if you want to leave, I will never let you go." With that, Ajax drew me closer, hand cupping my cheek. "You're mine, Claire. Fate says so and neither one of us can change it." If I look up now and make a howling sound, a sound that held my numerous questions, of alphas and omegas and fates and rejections―would it reach the Moon Goddess, answer my prayers, and wipe away my tears?

She just laid there, deathly pale, body frozen cold and lifeless. “No! You can't die, I won't let you. Who could have done this?!” Rion screamed out. He grabbed the silver chain around her wrist and hissed as the metal burned into the flesh of his palm. He didn't move his hand away, he channeled all his strength instead and managed to break the chains away from her wrist, despite getting badly burnt by them. He took her horribly burnt wrist and felt for a pulse. Somehow I still couldn't react, still couldn't speak, couldn't even understand what I was feeling. It felt like I was trapped in my own body, forced to watch everything unfold.

Disgusting. The second the door closes behind him, I begin frantically trying to break my arms and legs free. I hear the wall behind me starting to crack and give way. “Yes, come on,” I mutter to myself. I yank my hands as hard as I can and cough as plaster and dust rain down on me. My hands are still chained overhead. I look up to find that the walls are made of thick stone and my chains are firmly screwed into the wall. “Fuck!” With the silver chains weakening my wolf, I’m not going to be able to break the chains free from this stone wall. I slump back feeling defeated.

Irene almost collapsed from rage, but for her precious son's sake, she clung to me and wrapped her arms around my legs. "It was all Jane, that shameless little tramp! She must've come up with this cruel scheme. Sierra, you know Declan… He's upright, the youngest commander in the unit. He can't be left with this stain on his record!" She cried with crocodile tears and emotion, much more sincere than when she was cursing me earlier. Unfortunately, I was not moved by her at all. I replied, "Declan is an adult. He should know what he's done, and when the federal agents question me, I'll only tell the truth."

This was not going to HAPPEN! I didn't understand any of it, but there was something. A violent and raw surge of power exploded within me... it tore through me without warning, crashing into every nerve, every muscle, every part of me that had been suppressed. And breaking it. I didn't even realize it had happened until it did. The sound of a chain cracking and my arm moving before my mind could catch up. I swung the broken length of the chain, and slammed it straight into Drayven’s back with brutal force.

“Forever.” As the embers faded, a new dawn was already on the horizon—filled with unknown challenges, but also with hope, and the unbreakable bond forged through fire and blood.
