“What does the note say?” Rachel looked at the note and almost squirmed. Surely this was a trap to get her fired. How was she supposed to read the content of the note word for word and not provoke Tristan by doing so? When she didn’t respond, Tristan lowered his gaze. “Rachel. . .what does the note say?” “I don’t think I should—” “Rachel!” “YOU MISOGYNISTIC, DISRESPECTFUL BEING! IF YOU HAD ANY RESPECT FOR WOMEN, YOU WOULD AT LEAST COURT ONE BEFORE AGREEING TO MARRY A STRANGER. ASSHOLE!

Yeah, but she was that kind of friend. "Fine," Christie muttered, an exasperated sigh escaping her as she stood. "Don't worry, I do not want to hear of it anymore." She began walking to the door slowly. She stopped occasionally, turned to look at me, and resumed working as I said nothing. When she reached the doorframe, she turned once more. "So you won't be telling me what happened between the two of you?" "Nothing happened," I mumbled, turning away from her. Christie snorted, "Nothing happened, and you came in looking like you've been thoroughly fúcked."

Bella places her hands on the table and leans in closer to him to hear the full story. "Why do you look so happy about it?" "About what?" "My wife's affair," He frowns and she chuckles. "It's just...It's not like that." "You really despise me, don't you?" "No sir I just want to help you-" "I saw my wife kissing another guy," He speaks up changing his posture awkwardly. "That's pathetic." "I agree with you for the first time." "Do you happen to know him sir?" "Yeah. He's that singer...What's his name again...James I guess?"

Christie hadn’t done anything, as far as Alex could tell, except go to the Gilberts’ house and take a statement. He’d just waited until a couple of teenagers looking for a quiet place to grope each other had stumbled upon Jessica Gilbert’s remains out in the woods. Then Christie took the photos, notified the family, and filed everything away. The entire incident barely caused a ripple in the quiet waters of Smiths Hollow. Alex bet that if he checked the newspaper records of the time he would find no front-page story, either.

He told them about Marcy’s visit yesterday. “That bitch,” Christie swore. “I’m going to gut her!” “Easy Christie,” Mel told her, shaking her head. “This is all part of the plan,” Trent told her. Christie glared at him. “What? For Marcy trying to throw dirt on Mel, here? How is that the plan?” “Down, Girl, down,” Harry said as if Christie were a dog. She gave him a death glare in return. “What Trent is saying is that the word is getting out and people are reacting. That is what we wanted.”

“You and the boss; there is something going on right? Where did you go after yesterday’s meal?” Amelia groaned; not again. “You know we met by chance yesterday, and we were both in the car with him.” Christie's brows furrowed in concentration, “I know. But I have this feeling there is something going on, Ames.” She held her shoulder, “There is nothing going on. We are just a boss and a Secretary. If there was something going on, I would have never agreed to the blind date in the first place.” Christie nodded, “I guess that’s true. It’s just that I am curious. Sorry, I pulled you into the bathroom first thing in the morning.”
