Book 2: The cheating game *Alicia* "Byron Carter Chase... I am not going to kiss you, so move your tiny ass and let me do my job". I look up, getting annoyed at the tall man blocking me in. He is grinning in the most cheeky way and his blue eyes have a mischievous glint to them. "Come on Alli.. I know you want to... let's just get it over with". Honestly I feel a bit cornered... as I am literally standing in a corner of the makeup trailer, my back against the wall... his slim muscular frame blocking me, one long arm and big hand on each side, resting next to my head.

And this time, he’d gone too fucking far. I hurried around the corner to the side of the arcade where I knew the Miltonians usually hung out. By Miltonians, I meant the students of Milton Academy. Even though the arcade was neutral ground for both schools, that didn’t stop us from marking our own territories. The Miltonians had their domain and so did our school.

Soon, it was my turn to present. "Good morning, everyone. It's an honor to be here today at the Ashenford Design Competition organized by the government. I'd like to start by showing you the 3D model our team has put together." I gave a nod to the two team members who were with me on stage. One of them, Logan, clicked the remote, and the screen came to life with my design—a black and white, simple… ball? Inside it were images of Ashenford, but what was this supposed to be?

I spent hours with the both of them, playing board games, not noticing how much time was escaping me. I don’t think I have smiled more; Grace was brilliant, such a beautiful, sweet girl, and it tugged at my heart every time she broke out into coughs, her eyes watering as she put on a brave face and tried to keep her eyes on her cards. “I’m just trying to get you to be sympathetic for me, so you don’t see this,” she slammed down a blackjack when it was about to be Corbyn’s turn, “coming,” she grinned, laughter bubbling in her throat at the look of displeasure on Emerson’s face.

Maria was about to rebut her but our ride came and we got inside. When we reached the bar, music could be heard from the outside. It was so loud, we were able to get a table in the corner spot which is nice. From the moment we sat at the table Rachel immediately had gone missing. Maria and I just laughed. We were both quiet while drinking our drink when I felt someone staring at us. I looked up. There I saw Tobi, he was staring at me. I looked away, and immediately drank the drink I was holding. “Let’s dance,” I told Maria.

He nods, masking the disappointment across his face. When we went inside, the crowd was cheering and a game was going on inside. All the groups were joined in one. “Want to join them?” he asks. I nod because this is the only way I can socialize with these people and I don’t want his efforts to make me comfortable around here to go fruitless. “Karen! Karen! Karen!” People were cheering for the beautiful girl who was now playing the game. It’s her last try to win and the prize money is ten thousand dollars.

"I bet 200 grand there won't be more than three corner kicks in the first half. Like hell I'll keep losing!" "Sure," I responded with a smile. Right after Ian made the newest bet, it was as if a spell had been cast on the players. The home team kept ignoring the open central lanes, forcing unnecessary runs down to the byline. The first corner kick appeared at the 20th minute, then another at the 22nd. At the 25th minute, the home team's wing-back burst down the byline again and made a third corner kick. Ian smashed his glass. Gritting his teeth, he took out a loan before declaring, "I bet 500 grand that there won't be more than two yellow cards issued the entire game!"

If she goes off, she’s going to jail, hopefully not. We try to refocus. Soleil and Ruby pass out the game cards, starting with word scrambles first, then the chocolate in a diaper game, then the men trying to tie their shoes with fake pregnancy bellies strapped to their fronts. Of course they pick Knox and Silas. I laugh so hard I almost pee myself. Schlurping bottles comes next. Then guessing how many M&Ms are in the giant baby bottle. Soleil found the biggest baby bottle known to mankind. And honestly? Everything smooths out a bit. I’m not as tense, but I’m still watching my back. Every time I look toward Jennifer’s table, she dodges my eyes. Because she knows. She knows I’m this close to

She nodded slightly before peering deeper into the store. " There's an arcade game at that corner over there. Want to play?" " Uh... Sure. " " You have a penny?" " A few coins." We walked over to the arcade and she slotted a coin into it and soon the arcade popped to the life. It was just a regular game, nothing fancy, but she looked good at it. " You know how to play?" I asked.
