THIRD PERSON’S POV The sky bled into darkness. It started as a creeping shadow, swallowing the moonlight inch by inch until the world was bathed in an eerie twilight. The stars, once gleaming like distant embers, flickered—one by one—before vanishing altogether. The wind that once rustled the trees now held an unnatural stillness, heavy with something unseen. Something old. Something hungry. Deep within the heart of the Abyssal Order’s stronghold, the ritual neared its peak.

Pushing furniture out of her way, she placed the large white candle on the floor in the center of the room and then the black ones in the four corners of the room before lighting a long twig and handing it to Tara. “Say these words as you light each candle,” she instructed as she took a loose piece of brittle, yellowed paper from the back of the book and handed it gently to Tara. Tara immediately went to the black candles and lit them one by one. She repeated the words the paper each time she lit a candle. “I bring forth the power of light, the power of the heavens,” she read aloud, “Enclosed are we within these boundaries. No evil can penetrate. It is said and it is so!”

But the senses of a werewolf withered. Fabrrician lost both witchcraft and her wolfness, but his vampirism exceeded mine. And the last one, Natyaramona Deveraux, my cousin that was last to survive, was the closest to success. She gained three powers but all are in moderate levels. I fought side by side with my cousins, travelled with them along the world, hunting for prey and running away from enemies. And I was settled with that, I didn’t want anything more. Or so I thought. I know for a fact that if I was truly settled and contented with what I have for the past centuries, I would have died by now.

They led the way after I entered the cave and stopped in front of the pitch-black pit. I retrieved a roll of rope from my backpack and secured one end to a rock before descending into the pit. Another benefit of having enhanced vision was that I could see even in the darkest of places. The pit was deep, but my rope was the perfect length. There were lots of rocks and flowing water. Following the scent of rotting corpses, I eventually came upon a pile of bricks. It was what was left of the tower that was meant to suppress the spirits of the abandoned babies.

The "Page White" sky of the North did not dissolve so much as it bled. The vibrant violet and gold of the present began to drain away, replaced by a heavy, monochromatic amber that smelled of old parchment and cold iron. Silas Blackwood felt the transition in his bones, a slow, grinding shift of his reality as the "Golden Threads" of the Reader’s interest pulled him through the floor of the keep and into the marrow of the mountain.

This place is like an escape from the constant worry and protectiveness my three brothers possess. I feel like I've been reading for an hour when in reality, it's been a lot longer. I finally lift my head from the book to notice it is dark out and it's raining. Rain taps the glass as it falls from the night sky. "Excuse me, miss." My eyes focus on the old librarian. Her grey hair is over one shoulder, her brown eyes warm as she says, "I'm sorry, but we're closing now."

“I know mom, we’ll be safe.” Actually tomorrow we’re going to the woods to fight a vicious werewolf descended from a centuries-old pack of killers called the Dark Ones. After tomorrow you might never see me again or if something happens to Hayden, I’ll never be happy again, but no biggy! She wished she could say these thoughts out loud, to express how stressed and worried she was. She wished she could hug her mom tightly and let her know how much she and her dad meant to her, tell them that they were doing this so people like them could be safe too; but she couldn’t. Thick red angry scar tissue covered the left side, a few angry red veins moving from the middle. Whatever was there had to have been removed by force. It looked fresh but well-healed. Sighing, I looked into the direction we were going. Ahead were twelve large stones. Shocked, I gazed at the ice-covered peaks. "The Twelve Apostles?" That meant we had to be close to Toban's Kingdom, and if we were close that meant Aurora was here too. Clenching my fists, I felt Torren open his mind to me. Be patient, rider. We will find her.

Then, with purpose, I tossed it into the trash can. The sharp, hollow clink of metal hitting the bottom echoed through the quiet night. The wind brushed against me, its chill settling over my skin. I looked out over the night view, where even the dimmest stars held a faint trace of light. Then, I turned and stepped back inside, closing the door behind me. In that moment, I felt a stillness I had never known. Everything in the past had finally fallen with the stars into endless darkness. And ahead of me, there lay countless possibilities that I could explore one by one.

I felt said brother stirring beside me and went back to reading the note before he snatched it from me. Dear Twins, If you haven’t figured it out, this book is a fairytale rewrite of Robin Hood and a mature reverse harem book. Reverse harem means one female and multiple males, and in the end, the female gets all of them instead of having to choose. Don’t come looking for me, or you will just ruin the story. Though you have to at least try a bit because it’s expected. I’ll be at the castle trying to steal the treasure while you take on the train. What is going to happen at the castle?
