The Day After Tomorrow Library Novels & Stories

Next day's morning comes by, and by 11:30 AM, my classes for the day have finished. What's next is the hellish task for saving the library. It's scheduled to begin at lunch hour. I wonder why I'm going along with them. At the end of the day, all this community known as the Aid Club do, is gathering together a bunch of weaklings, and all these weaklings are doing is doze off inside that little walled garden. The guidance counelor has just piled together this group of losers and given them a temporary comfortable shelter. And how's that any different from the classic experience that I hate so much?

Tomorrow: the statement, Harry, Reeves, the city. After tomorrow: the hearing, the case, the weeks ahead. After all of it: somewhere with a garden they didn’t know yet. I held his hand. I read my book. He went back to his documents. The library held the evening around us. Outside the fountain ran. And in my pocket the phone sat quiet, Harry’s number in it, the weight of what he carried waiting until Tuesday to be set down.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

I felt the air leave mine. He didn't speak for two minutes. Then he said, very quietly: "Tomorrow morning. Eight. The library. I'll tell you everything." "Atlas." "Yes." "Will you stay in the room tonight. With me. Just to sleep. Nothing else. I don't want to be alone."

Mom already had the slip of paper in her hand and was looking over the books, trying to find the right section. "There 7." I pointed behind her, running towards the section. The library was my safe haven. Whenever I missed dad, or was in a sad mood I would come here, grab a book and a chair and just sit in the corner, reading the book and drifting into another world of imagination. So it wasn't a surprise that I knew the sections by heart. "Row 4." I whispered to myself. "And book 19." Counting the numbers in my mind I stopped my finger on the 19th book. “I am leaving now.” Damien stood. He did it slowly, as if to show he was not blocking me. Cole stepped aside from the door. Rylan held it open. The library noise reached us in a soft hum. We walked into the corridor like a procession, quiet and measured. Light pooled on the carpet from the wall lamps. The night librarian looked up and then down again, uninterested. I made it to the main doors before they spoke. “Tomorrow,” Cole said. It was not a question. It was a thread stretched between us.

Both she and I know that is not the reason but I am not going to back down at all. “Yes!.” I silently answered. “Okay if you say so but you are definitely eating with us tomorrow.” Alissa finalized. I know there is no way I will get out of this one. “Okay!”. I sighed. “Good then. See you in class after lunch.” Alissa said as she and Ivory head to the cafeteria. I went to the library and dropped off the book I borrowed last week. Before I borrowed another one. I can’t help it. The school library is full of interesting science fiction. I think I am becoming addicted to it.
