They moved like smoke, twisting and shifting into forms she had long feared losing: Kael struck down before her eyes, Aeron trapped in molten chains, Mira consumed by flames.
She froze, but a hand on her shoulder steadied her. Cassian’s voice rang clear. “Focus, Luna! They are illusions. They feed on fear, not reality!”
Luna’s hands glowed brighter, the moons’ light forming a protective sphere. “I know what you are,” she said to the shadows. “You cannot control me. I am the Moonbearer!”
The illusions writhed, shrieking as the light of the moons struck them. One by one, they dissolved into smoke, leaving only Luna standing, radiant with silver, blue, and pale gold light.
