Her Saviour Alpha
My eyes fell upon a woman curled up on the cold floor, her face hidden behind a curtain of tangled hair. She looked broken, as though life had taken everything from her.
I rushed to her side and gently brushed the hair away from her face. Fear, pain, and exhaustion lingered in her eyes, making my chest tighten.
"Hey... I'm here now," I murmured. "You're safe. No one is going to hurt you anymore."
I wrapped my coat around her shoulders and moved to lift her into my arms when Max stepped forward and placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Don't forget what Ella told you," he warned quietly.
"Get the car ready," I ordered, ignoring him.
"You're saving her today," Max said grimly, "but one day, this woman will be the reason for your downfall. Remember Ella's warning."
"I don't know what the future holds," I replied coldly, "but I'm not leaving her here."
Ignoring him, I lifted her into my arms. She trembled before burying her face against my chest, clinging to me as if I were her last hope.
Mate.
The word echoed through my mind, stealing the air from my lungs.
No.
Horror washed over me.
Richard's wife...
The woman whose husband I had killed...
She was my mate.
