A handful of people sat scattered in the big diner. When Lindsey and Clem walked in soft music streamed from the speakers on the ceiling. Clem and Lindsey found an empty table by the window. She hadn’t seen much of the town on their drive.

I startle. I glance out the window. The diner is just as run-down as I remember. The neon sign still blinks, and the missing "D" still makes the sign read “iner.” All the boys that lived here always told the exact same joke, 'that they would give the D later,' and I guess it is still the same to this day. Inside, the place is shabby, with flickering lights and worn-out booths.

Instead, the chef decides what to cook based on their inspiration, considering allergies and food intolerances.
