She knew she couldn’t stay here a second longer, especially with the loan sharks already tracking her down. By the time Lani and Maya finally left the apartment, dusk had fallen. A narrow alley behind the building led them to another street, where they flagged down a taxi to head back to Maya’s apartment. Sitting in the car, Lani couldn’t bring herself to look back. She feared catching the gaze of someone following her or hearing the ominous footsteps of those who had shattered her life. Lani’s voice quivered as she spoke, “Maya, thank you for helping me. I honestly don’t know what I would do without you.”

“He won’t like it if he found out you’re trying to escape. So, please, stay put and wait for him to come back.” “I’m tired of hearing those excuses! I don’t even know why I just woke up locked in a room, and everybody’s telling me not to leave, and that Alpha told me I’m his property and this is his territory and---” “Because that’s the truth, Miss.” She wanted to grab a handful of her hair! Finally, my fingers almost dropped my phone as I opened the text from Leo. Leo: We have her, she is in bad shape. He sent a picture of Charlotte. She must not have slowed the parachute down before she hit the trees. Cuts and scraps covered every inch of her. Ezra was carrying her and they were suppose to burn the parachute. No evidence left behind. My phone started ringing, it was the palace clerk. “Hello?” I answered dully. “Alpha Waylon. I’m afraid I have some bad news. Hailey Mertens has escaped and is presumed armed and dangerous. We are letting you know in case she comes after you for turning her in.”

Willa's POV The two gunshots came from my balcony and the two men dashing at me fell at the huge noise. Baldwin snapped his head to his back, and that was when a third gunshot rang out and Baldwin fell backward at that huge sound. It was Al! I dashed forward and got the gun out of Baldwin just in case. Though he was already dead with a bullet through his head. "Al!" I shouted as I dashed toward Al. He leaned against the door frame of the balcony, panting hard with a gun held in his hand.

Aldus said, his tone firm. “Yes, Your Highness. We will make sure everything runs smoothly,” Beta replied. “Good.” As they turned a corner in the corridor, a breathless Gamma rushed toward them. Both men frowned at his alarmed expression. “What happened? Why are you out of breath?” Beta asked. The Gamma bowed his head before speaking urgently, “Bad news, Your Highness. Alpha Aldrake and Luna’s sister have escaped.” Aldus’s jaw tightened instantly, fury flashing in his eyes, “What the h*ll happened? Weren’t their cells sealed with binding magic to prevent escape?”

I guess this will be his last meal on earth. “You...” He points at me immediately he sees me. “How did you escape from the cell?” “Are you asking me that, Beta?” I ask. “Do you want to know how I escaped?” He is so full of himself thinking he could kill me. Despite seeing me covered in blood, he seems unconcerned. He is yet to know his alpha’s death. “Well, I escape like this,” I reply. After telling him everything, “Thanks to Elena who is now dead with her mate, Lucas. Oh, I forgot to add your Alpha as well. I killed them all.”

I remained hidden until they were done with sharing their condolences with Kylan, and only when they left did I leave my hiding spot. "You should have met them, I'm sure they miss you." Kylan said the moment I was within earshot, but I wasn't paying him any attention at the moment. I was still pissed that there was no remorse in their eyes, even when they were the core reason I had escaped from home. They had sold me to the highest bidder, and yet they didn't seem to care.

"Keep looking. Search every inch of that facility." She hung up and looked at Lucy. "Brad Carson escaped from the county jail two hours ago during a prisoner transfer. Killed one guard, injured two others. He's in the wind." Lucy felt the floor tilt beneath her. "Brad. He's part of this." "He might be behind all of it," Rachel said. "What if he hired Webb and Tanaka himself? Used Mirabel's money and contacts, but made his own deals?" "That's why The Shepherd was so easy to buy off," William said. "He didn't care about Mirabel's contract because it wasn't really her contract. It was Brad's."
