I felt the fury come up. Not the small concentrated kind I had felt before. This was different. This started in the chest and moved outward and it was not hot, it was very cold, very focused, the kind of cold that does not burn itself out because it does not need to burn. It was the fury of someone who has just had the final illusion removed. The illusion that the people in power were operating from principle rather than from the simple desire to put things back in the order that benefited them. They were not afraid of the bond.

If I could just get close enough, I’d make them pay. I kicked my legs furiously. “Let me go! I need to end these bastards!” My voice cracked from the strain, my whole body trembling with heat. My skin felt like it was boiling from the inside, fueled by the white-hot flames of fury burning through my chest. How dare he?
