That evening, as I returned home, I found Favour still glued to her laptop and Gift sprawled on the couch, exhausted from work. I dropped onto the armrest beside her, exhaling deeply. He said. “Then say what you have to say and let me go.” “My my my; aren’t you a feisty one.” “Look I have a lot of shit to deal with and everybody just keeps adding more shit to it.” “I know all about you Felan. I have been watching you since I found out Rhiannon gave you a gift. I know about Keyne and his mom and every gifted wolf out there. I know what you have done and are willing to do. Raphael yelled over his shoulder, "Didn't my mom ask you to start trying for a baby? You said no, didn't you? You don't want to give birth? Fine. Once Brie has the baby, we'll raise it for you. That kid'll be yours." What kind of joke is this? Me, raising Brie's child? "Screw off." I slammed the door behind them. Finally, peace. A few minutes later, Tom came back alone. He pressed a small box into my hand. I opened it. A pair of earrings lay inside. Tom plucked one up and leaned in close, brushing his fingers against my earlobe. "Don't move. Raphael was in the way earlier, so I couldn't give it to you." He fastened the earring and leaned back to take a good look, visibly pleased.
