Before going i saw my reflection in the mirror and whispered to myself, “Damn, your girl looks so fine. I’m not about to play with this position.” In about 10 minutes, I arrived at Vans and Sterling Company — and boy, this place was flashy. From the security men dressed in all black uniforms who happily opened the doors for me, to the gleaming polished floors and sky- high walls, I instantly knew I hit the jackpot with this position. “Thank you, Jesus,” I whispered under my breath, fully aware that it was only through Him that I had gotten this spot.

The glass walls of the Deckard mansion glittered against the city skyline like a fortress of untouchable wealth. Inside, crystal chandeliers dripped light across polished marble, every surface gleaming as if begging to reflect its owners’ perfection. And there she was, Elara, the maid.

Odd things that reminded me of a voodoo parlor. I didn’t touch any of those. No, what drew me in was a book at the far end. It was almost as if the book itself was calling my name, leading me towards it. I was a moth to a flame. By the time I stood right in front of it, I realized that the book was encased in glass. Curiously, I touched the glass, hoping I would find a way to open it but the second my skin made a contact, the glass shattered. Ryker who had been standing beside me quickly pulled me back. “What the bloody hell is that?”

Just as she reached the door, I spoke again. “And Miss Cole—” She paused. “Make sure you don’t get distracted this time.” The words came out colder than I intended. She didn’t turn back. “Yes, Mr. Sterling.” The door closed quietly behind her. I exhaled slowly, running a hand through my hair as I stared at the space she had just left behind. That wasn’t about the files. And I knew it. I walked to the window, looking out at the fading evening light. The city stretched endlessly below, alive and indifferent.

He had been staring at the layout of her house for forty-five minutes. He knew where the cameras were. He knew the gate structure. He knew she lived there all alone, fighting him entirely on her own two feet without asking her family for help.

I added. “ Face your work. August,” he replied lazily. “Oh, and listen, the hum. Do you hear that?” I said, ignoring all he said. “ It's called a ventilation system. It's Security features.” He snapped. I exhaled. “They are security features, August. Mr. Hale's preference." “ Oh, my god. Security? in a glass house? Who are the watchers? Isn't this irony too much?" I said. "Him." That was the only response he gave me.

Jacynta laughed out loud. Now we stopped in a room where all the walls were glass. "Come in," Jacynta said as she pushed open the glass door. As soon as I stepped into this room, I gasped, my heart seemed to stop beating in shock. It turned out that not only the walls, but the floor of this room was also made of glass. "The floor is made of the thickest glass, it's safe, so you don't have to worry about the glass breaking." Jacynta turned her head and said that as she realized that I was scared.
