The man stood up slowly and looked at the cake and burning candles. He shook his head, saying, "I have no wishes. My biggest wish has already come true. I've always wished for you all to return safe and sound and for our family to be together forever!"

It had a ring of fire behind it which glowed a deep crimson on the horizon. I remembered the stories. Only children believed in them now. How during the Great Eclipse, if you made a wish with all your soul, the Moon would hear you. Some people wished for love. Others for power. But very few dared to wish for life. It felt… selfish. Impossible. Still… I pressed my forehead to the cold glass, closed my eyes, and whispered the words like a prayer only she could hear: “Bring her back to me.” I didn’t expect anything.
