Novel & Cerita The Grownup

The colors on the TV slowly started to blur together. Red rocks. Brown groundhog. Green cactus. Beside me, Richard chuckled under his breath. His voice was low and steady. He wouldn’t suddenly loom over me, and he wouldn’t snap at me either. I closed my eyes. Grown-ups were strong. They got to choose what was on TV, eat caramel popcorn, and even tell a six-year-old kid: "You don’t have to become an adult right now." Even so, I still wanted to grow up fast. Once I was grown, I could decide a lot of things for myself. I wouldn’t have to listen to Elizabeth anymore.

I answered. “Yes, you are,” he insisted which makes me roll my eyes at him. “See…” he smiles. “Your gestures were like those ten years old kid—” “Earlier, I am a baby, now, I turn into a kid. So, when we have sex, I’m already an adult?” I queried. Zero smiled. “No, but when you get pregnant, that makes you an adult.” “W-What?” Did I hear it right or not? “What did you—”

I stood up and took off my pajama. “Woah woah woah woah———what do you think you’re doing?” “What? It’s too hot in here. My knees are sweating. You know, you can’t clearly see it anyway so it’s fine. And also, that’s just you there Mike.” And he immediately turned his back and I murmured, “It’s not like you haven’t seen my butt before.” I heard he slapped his forehead when he said, “Strawberry, we are now grown ups. The time has changed. It’s different nowadays. We’re not little kids anymore.”

Not a little grown-up who thinks he has to look after his Mommy. "Honey, you don't have to be the man of the house. Mommy can look after herself. Mommy is the grown-up here and needs to learn to be a boy. Mommy wants to send you to school so that you can learn how to play with other children. It is time that you become a child and stop trying to be a grown-up. I love you very much and know you are only trying to protect me, but you don't have to worry about Mommy. Mommy is big enough to look after herself. I want you to enjoy your childhood," I say as we walk to the car.

However, I really don't want to give up. Life is still long, ahead is full of thorns, if I am not strong enough to face the present, how can I continue to live? I can't just depend on others, I have to grow up. Nothing is permanent. Before, when I was with Brian, being cared for and worried by him little by little, I thought that I didn't need to grow up. However, that love story did not last long, and now, I have to shoulder it all by myself.

I muttered before making my way to the boss’s office. I knocked before walking in to see an orange head, clad in a traditional black and white suit sitting on his chair behind the desk. Diamond studs in his ear gleaming in light falling down on him from the ceiling. The guy was in his late 80s but managed to cheat age quite well. If you didn't know you could never guess his age right. “There you are. Little Duke.” I gritted my teeth at the nickname he had given me. I hated it, but he seems to enjoy messing with me.

“Isabelle’s still young. She just turned nineteen after the full moon.” James’ Beta, Damien, nodded. “An Omega being a little possessive and headstrong is normal. Clary was about that age when she started dating you.” James fell silent for a moment, not responding. Someone else joked, “We all remember how proud and untouchable Clary used to be. “Now? She’s completely obedient. She'll do whatever Alpha tells her to do.” Damien laughed. “Exactly. Back then, no one would’ve imagined Clary becoming this gentle and well-behaved.”

I said, acting like a gentleman. “It seems you’re growing up every day a little.” “Excuse me?” “Finally, you talked like an adult instead of acting childish because sometimes, I feel like I married a child instead of an adult.” “You keep testing my patience, don’t you?” “The same goes with you, too.”

His objective was to turn into a well off individual. He had a framework, regardless of whether it was a framework that would just initiate after he turned into a grown-up. As indicated by the law in the United States, the individuals who were 21 or more in age were viewed as grown-ups. All things considered, they could as of now begin drinking liquor at that age - how should they not be viewed as grown-ups then, at that point? Luke had accepted he simply expected to hang tight an additional three years for the framework. Never had he expected that he would just have to trust that the framework will initiate, and after actuation, it believed him should turn into a cop.

I agreed to leave the firm with Adrian Cross, my childhood friend, after he claimed he was being bullied out of his job. But the day before we were supposed to resign, he changed his mind for Mia Foster, a new intern. One of his colleagues laughed. “Impressive. You pretended to be bullied at work for months just to trick Evelyn into leaving.” “But you two grew up together. You’re really going to send her to a new firm alone?” Adrian rolled the bourbon around his glass. “She’ll still be working in the same city. How far away can she possibly go?” “Besides, isn’t she always saying she’s independent and the department can’t function without her? This works out perfectly.” I stood outside the o
