A circle of hooded figures stood in a clearing, their robes black as pitch, their hands raised around a glowing rune carved into the earth. At the center, a wolf—one of Lira’s scouts—lay on the ground, his body contorting as dark magic was sucked from him, leaving his fur gray and lifeless.
“Blood magic,” Elara hissed. “They’re feeding on the pack.”
He lunged before she could stop him, his shadow magic tearing through two hooded figures, who dissolved into smoke. The others scattered, but one turned, raising a hand that glowed with purple light.
