The Hellhound Novels & Stories

Using my sword skills, I tear through their bodies, slicing their heads and limbs, but they keep coming. My body bows as claws dig into my back. Falling forward, I manage to rip away from the claw and slice at the hound, but another grips my arm. I kick out as my sword clatters onto the floor and rip another hound’s arm. Its grey body shudders, and its wolflike snout curls. Outside of their human forms, hellhounds are not pretty creatures. They are gray, with large, stout, pitbull bodies, very little hair, and heads are round with tiny cauliflower ears, beady dark eyes, and puglike snouts.

The smell of blood lessens the further I travel from camp, mingling with a new scent–something even more metallic–magic. The hunters weren’t lying about seeing a hellhound. Because there was a hellhound. Only, it’s dead now. I shift back into my usual form and adjust my dress in a rush, my mind spinning over the figure lying still in front of me. Warmth radiates from its mutated form. This hellhound is more wolf-like than the others I’ve seen. Almost a cross between a rogue and a regular shifter; its body is lean and strong, but its facial features are all wrong. Its eyes are huge and extremely far apart. Its mouth is wide open, three rows of razor sharp teeth glinting in the moonlight.

That meant getting down to our latest problems. Quade had contacted a Hellhound he knew. The way hellhounds were created was rather a disturbing event. They weren't born like werewolves or fae. They were turned similarly to vampires. As a vampire, you were technically already dead, a cold, hard shell walking around using other people's blood to stay alive. Hellhounds were the same in the sense of the human being dead, only once dead, the spirit of a Hellhound would possess the mortal body which in turn kept the body and human functional.

The elder’s skeletal frame began to shift as he roared, “I’ll show you my true power!” He opened his skeletal jaws and began muttering a strange incantation. Adrian’s eyes narrowed with surprise as a rift opened in the void, and from it emerged another skeletal creature. “What… Is that a hellhound?” Adrian murmured. The creature, resembling a large, menacing dog, trembled with a terrible aura. Adrian recognized it instantly as a hellhound, a beast he had encountered before. The elder looked smug, though momentarily taken aback by Adrian’s recognition. “So you know what it is. That’s right, it’s a hellhound, and a signal that your end has arrived.”

Fennel and Philip looked at each other before walking toward the manor’s entrance. Suddenly, ten burly men with tattoos all over their bodies rushed out of the manor. They were outrageously stout like gorillas! Fennel and Philip stopped at the same time. The former stared coldly at the ten burly men rushing out and said softly, “Be careful. These ten people are the Hellhounds of the Hall of Evil, the top ten killing machines under the Dark Angels. Their combat level should be between the third and fourth zones. Although it’s not particularly high, their bodies have undergone special transformations. Once their power is fully unleashed, they can reach the peak

And a mad one at that. The Hellhound, they called him. Even though he was important, he was known to go on certain missions with his underlings though those particular ones were usually very specific. Anyone who ever got a visit by the New York Mafia with him being there meant they had done something terrible and could not live to the next day.

Octavia asked. “Yes, they are the most powerful creatures in hell and also the most loyal. They would do anything for the ones they love. That is why it is extremely rare for hellhounds to have masters because they get attached and possessive,” I said. “He doesn’t seem attached or very possessive to Lillian,” she said.

I commanded with a cold smirk on my face. Venus was inside her cell immediately. We had already tested out these specific cells and knew that her abilities would work in there. I had no idea if it was because of her species or because she was bound to me. Either way, it was a great tidbit of information to hold in the palms of our hands. Our Hellhounds were the aces up our sleeves. “Hellhounds are marvelous creatures,” I murmured appreciatively. “Their psychic abilities exceed those of many species. You’ll give us the information willingly, or my gorgeous Hellhound here will do that for me. Your choice.”

He claims to have hellhounds and there's no reason not to believe him, but still. Hellhounds kill with single-minded purpose and in turn they are nearly impossible to kill. They have no problem breaking off parts of their bodies to slip through things like fences, gates, and prison cells. The Federation had no success at taking much less keeping one alive and whenever they tried, humans died.

Its attention was now entirely on me as it lowered its head, growling at me. The hellhound was ready to drag me with it back to where it came as it lunged forward with a speed rivaled by that of a vampire. I pulled the surrounding shadows, catching the hellhound midair as it jumped towards me. I hurled it hard and fast, making it hit a tree in the distance so hard that it knocked it over. The ground shook, and the woods came to life from the sound of the fallen tree.
