The Honoured One Novels & Stories

“Your Majesty.” “Un-un.” His head shook as Daniel put out his hand. “You bow to no one in this kingdom, Haldir. I wouldn’t even have a kingdom were it not for you.” The freckled hand Haldir offered the king in return trembled just a bit as he lifted his gaze to meet him. “It is my honor.” Daniel’s lips curled, and his eyes watered as he took a moment to pause and swallow down the lump in his throat. “No, Haldir, it is my honor.” He glanced back over his shoulder at Agamori and nodded. “Our honor to have you in our home.”

"Alpha Cyrus and Luna Gianna." Nolan's attention sharpened but something was wrong with the announcement. "Redo it," he said sharply. The herald blinked. "Your Majesty?" "The announcement. You missed something." Confusion flickered across the herald's face, then understanding dawned. "Valemont Pack," he said again, louder this time. "Alpha Cyrus and Most Honorable Luna Gianna." Murmurs rippled through the crowd. Most Honorable. A title reserved for those recognized by the King himself.

The sharp clap of his military boots on the floor snapped everyone out of their astonishment. Adrian looked serious as he stood before Liam, extending the gleaming medal with utmost reverence. His eyes shone with worship and zeal as he declared, "I'm Adrian, captain of the deputy staff officer at the Drunham City garrison. It's an honor to meet the Guardian Deity of Biskeland!" Guardian Deity! Indeed, that was the Guardian Honor Medal of Biskeland, a rare and distinguished accolade. Only twelve exist, signifying that just a dozen individuals across Biskeland have the honor of bearing one.

The king exclaimed. Then the king stepped down from his throne and approached the heroes. "To our brave soldiers, Elvaro Eraprez and Kederic Dajuan, I grant you the title of nobility." Walking to the end of the line, the king faced a brown-haired girl who was bowing to him. "Miss Grace Menken," "Yes, Your Majesty," Grace replied.

The field was silent for a minute as I closed my eyes thinking of those we had lost and thinking of myself who had been lost in all of this, I would never get back the innocent girl who had no blood on her hands. The ceremony ended with Helen calling out the names of the valiant heroes and honoring each and every one of them just as she had said and we didn't mind waiting for that long. After the ceremony, which I had thought had ended, Helene paused everyone and said she had another announcement to make. “Lastly, I would like to honor a very special person.”

I laughed at Kylie's words—until I spotted Anton nearby, stiff and awkward. At least he looked cleaner than Steven. Small win. I glanced at Maya. She looked away and muttered, "Kylie came back today. He's still her dad..." Of course. Maya always had that soft spot. I just sighed. Anton stepped closer. "Mom, you were incredible today." For once, there was actual respect in his eyes. He gave a crooked smile. "After you left, I realized how badly I messed up. I took you for granted. Said things I shouldn't have.

In what little dignity we have left. My father watches me for a long moment, his raspy breath marking the seconds. A hint of a smile, sad and proud, distorts his chapped lips. —That's good, Liora. That's… dignified. Dignified. The word echoes in the morbid room, like a last rusty medal to pin on one's chest. It's all we have left to claim, to truly possess. A little dignity in the programmed fall. The right to choose the position in which one falls.

“I may have large eyes, but my eyesight isn’t the best. Now, let me see…a young man and a young lady. The young man is the son of Honorable Ise Sakai and the young lady is…the runaway daughter of General Lucarius. It is my honor to meet you both!” “The honor is ours.” Ishida shook his head. Ishida’s hopes soared when the creature called his father an “honorable” man. “By the way you said my father’s name with the word “honorable” in front of it, perhaps my father was a visitor of King Rexius?” “Oh no, no, no! Not at all!” Ishida frowned. But before he could say anything, the king’s servant continued speaking. “Honorable Ise Sakai was not just a visitor! He was the first outsider to ever reac

“Stop! Stop saying this, you don't get anything, there's more to it….” “Then for the sake of whatever matters, tell me. Tell me!” “It is because of ANTI, it means Antaleum Nagaxium Tilogydo Tiransodi.” “I thought no one knew what it meant.” “Who told you that? Haughter, right? Like I said, she doesn't know much, in fact, no one alive beside Aunt Joanna and me knows shit.”

Eyes that followed me as I climbed the podium to pay my tribute. “Brothers and Sisters, today we have assembled to honour a true warrior, a loyal companion, and a shining example of what it means to be a Crescent wolf. Hanson Farnelli may be gone, but his legacy lives on in our hearts, our minds, and our actions.” I began calmly, watching their faces as I spoke.
