(Isabella’s POV) The safe house was a tomb, filled with the ghosts of a life that wasn't mine. Dust sheets covered the heavy, ornate furniture, and the air was thick with the stale, stagnant scent of time. The brutal, adrenaline fueled escape from Bianchi’s gala felt a world away, but the true horror of the night was just beginning to settle in my bones, a cold, creeping dread that no locked door could keep out.

The deafening silence only intensifies my fear, leaving me with a sinking feeling that something truly horrific has occurred. I took my step after standing paralyzed for so long, one step at a time, slowly. And as my feet move, the scene before my eyes gets much more horrifying. “OH MY GOD I HATE THIS HOUSE.” From the distance, the House hummed irritably—offended. “Sorry, Brenda!” Samantha yelled. The House buzzed once—accepting the apology. --- Then the hum changed. Turned sharp. Frantic. Panicked. Samantha stiffened. “Lucien. That’s Brenda. What is she saying?” I listened. Varyn House was screaming through the roots of the earth. One word. Over and over.
